    Heat Buildup in Summer

I’m afraid I’m again posting in the wrong forum but I didn’t see one where this clearly fit. Looks like I’ll be going away for a little while during the summer. As all the windows will be closed there won’t be any ventilation in the room where I have my two computers. Is that a problem during the summer with heat in the room? The computers will be plugged in but not up and running. Also have a few USB disks (WD) that won’t be connected but are in the room. Could the heat affect the equipment? Should i Leave fans blowing on them? I’d hate to have to leave the air conditioning running.

Absolutely no need to leave the air con on.

Disconnect the PCs from the wall socket, disconnect the USB HDDs, put them somewhere safe and you are all done.

you could leave them plugged in but to be sure of protection if there is a power surge or even just the electric company working on the line and mucking with the supply, it’ll be best to unplug them from the wall as suggested.

Thank you. Everything is connected to APC ups/surge protector, nothing directly into the wall outlet.

If the pc’s are not on while you are gone, then there is nothing to worry about heat wise..
