Bluetooth not working, nor wifi. And nothing I've tried works... help!

You are hopefully using the Ethernet on the computer and will able to do the following for us;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

If not checked yourself already, Speccy shows that both your BT and Wlan are running but what is not running is the Wi-Fi Direct Services Connection Manager Service.

The AV protection can sometimes cause problems with internet connectivity, have a couple of suggestions so easiest first, are you ok with temporarily uninstalling Bitdefender and using Windows Defender and Firewall instead, let us know and we will provide the steps for you.

It is best that we address one item at a time, based on the fact that you can connect to two wireless printers without issue it suggests that the wireless card is working in some way so we should look at that first and the Bluetooth device second.

Couple of things for you to do;

Power Profile
Active power scheme: [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]High performance

Change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, High Performance is a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues and the setting should only be used for gaming type notebooks that have a discrete GPU that needs the extra power.

RE Bitdefender: if the AV product that you have is a paid for version you should make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

Hi, Yes, I went first to HP but that wasn’t much help, thread is now closed. On the other forum I got no replies and it was then that I searched for alternative help. I will follow steps just from here from now on.

Power plan is now on Balanced.

Thanks, you would be surprised at how many people think that it is acceptable to start threads on multiple forums and either chop and change the guidance they follow or simply abandon all of the threads without bothering to reply to any of them, had one person that had post on several forums throw a tantrum when a fellow admin asked them to have a little courtesy and thank the forums that had tried to help them.

So did everything you suggested.

Power plan to balanced
Unistalled Bit Defender through tools

Restarted and no change.

Ran Windows All in One Repair tool after clean boot and in safe mode.

Still no changes, bluetooth doesn’t work

Got two more things to try, one you can do sat at your desk but the other could be a bit more problematic as it involves disconnecting and moving the computer, first things first though;

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

Flush DNS
Report IE Proxy Settings
Reset IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
Reset FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP Configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us.

Couple of questions, one I should have asked earlier.

Have you checked that Flight Mode is not enabled.

Have you tried different browsers.

While working with PCHF have you been disconnecting the Ethernet cable when checking the wireless connection and is the wireless listed in the Network & Internet area of the Action Centre.

Flight mode is off and I use Chrome, Firefox and Opera for different things, non work without ethernet.

I’m not sure what you mean on the last question… On the Network & Internet section status is “connected to the internet” with ethernet; not connected if I unplug it. There is a wifi tab and going into it it’s turned on. If I click on “Show available networks” I get “No Wifi networks found”.
