have you checked the CPU Support List.
according to this; https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard...P-rev-12/sp#sp the X6 is not supported.

what error are you getting when upgrading the BIOS?

Hi. thanks for replying. It says Support for Socket AM3/ AM2+/ AM2 processors. The Phenom ii x6 is AM3 so I thought it would be the right one. Not getting an error message. when I click run, a black window flashes up and disappears.

Have to agree with @Bruce that processor is not supported. Referring to where it states processor no where does it state a [COLOR=rgb(243, 121, 52)]ii X6

What I would suggest that you contact Gigabyte and confirm that it is and or is not supported by that motherboard.

          Information form here
          https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard...P-rev-10/sp#sp

From the Manual can be found here

Here is another site showing that the CPU is not compatible

Bit of a long shot but can you put the previously used CPU back in place, then update the bios? After the bios is updated try your new CPU, and if it works it’s all good, if not refer to posts 3 and 5.

Did that correct the issue and hoping that the RAM is now compatible with the new motherboard

Let us know the results and yes RAM is can be different.

Just like you have found out about the AMD CPU(s) same will apply to the RAM.

Decided to buy a new case. Got the Corsair Spec Delta. Checked to make sure it was compatable with the motherboard, it is. Trying to fit motherboard myself but cant figure out where the RGB splitter cable connects. Any help would be great.
