    Black screen with white line

    Hey hey,

    So today I tried connecting a third to screen to my pc using a vga to hdmi adapter. My pc started blowing hard and the screen went black. So I restated and now it shows this…

      I tried adding the file. Its a black screen with a white line up top. It says the picture is to for the server to process

              Have you tried plugging in the monitor to onboard graphics, removing the PCI-E power connectors from the video card, and seeing if there’s video to rule out a bad video card?

                Haven’t tried yet, and it’s with whatever screen I use. Tried hdmi displayport and dvi. I’m on school atm, after school I can try what you told me. Need some more explanation tho..

                  The white line you’re experiencing means one of two things: either a bad monitor or a bad video card.

                  Removing power to the video card and using on-board graphics will determine which is bad. If everything goes back to normal when plugged into onboard video (video ports on the motherboard), it means a bad video card. If it stays the same, it’s a bad monitor.

                  Did you always ensure the cables were secure and nothing was loose?
