I can run most games on high graphics settings most of the time but once every few minutes my frames will drop into the tens, upon watching the resource monitor and looking at the CPU and GPU temperatures it appears that the FPS drops happen at the points when the CPU is hottest (50-60 c), also all of the cores are active but stuck at 20% ish usage, this lasts about 10 secs and when it is finished the CPU has been cooled down to 30-35 c and the cores go back to being used normally and the FPS goes back up. The higher the graphics settings are the more often the drops happen. I think it is something to do with over heating but don’t know what to do about it.
Specs:
Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB
AMD FX™-8350 Eight-Core Processor
16GB RAM (8GB x2)
c drive: KINGSTON SH103S3120G SATA Disk Device
d drive: ST1000DM 003-ER162 SATA Disk Device
With regards to air flow I have a Bitfenix Neos case and I think the GPU fan sucks air from the space between it and the PSU (the PSU also sucks from this air) and blows it into the CPU fan that then blows it onto the top of the case where it is sucked out of the case by the exhaust fan if that is what you call it.
If anyone has any other ideas about what the problem could be instead of overheating it would greatly appreciated to hear them and if anyone has a solution to the over heating problem it would also be very helpful, thanks
