    Lenovo Yoga 14 Problems?

    Hey everyone,
    My friend has a Lenovo Yoga 14 that exhibits some weird behavior. It likes to shut down applications by itself with no warning (it doesn’t even say “___ has stopepd working” or anything) and more things that I for some reason can’t think of right now, unfortunately. I did a Lenovo hardware test on it and it had a fail on the graphics card and the PCI on the motherboard. I’ve attached that to the thread. With the problems I’m seeing, I think a re-installation of Windows would be useful, because most of the problems seem software related. What do you all think?

        Hello Nick, your issue may or may not be malware but since you have been directed here lets check out the machine.

        We need a log from Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) to examine your system.

        Please download the FRST 32 bit or FRST 64bit version to suit your operating system. It is important FRST is downloaded to your desktop.

        If you are unsure if your operating system is 32 or 64 Bit please go HERE.

        Once downloaded right click the FRST desktop icon and select “Run as administrator” from the menu"



        If you receive any security warnings, or the User Account Control warning opens at any time whilst using FRST you can safely allow FRST to proceed.
        Frst will open with two dialogue boxes, accept the disclaimer.


        [ol]
        [li]Accept the default whitelist options,[/li][li]If the additions.txt options box is not checked please select it. [/li]
        [li]Then select “Scan”[/li][/ol]



        Frst will take a few minutes to scan your computer, and when finished will produce two log files on your desktop, FRST.txt, and Addition.txt. They will display immediately on the desktop, but can be reopened later as a notepad file.



        Please COPY and PASTE the contents of these two files in your next post.

            I finally did what you recommended to me. Attached are those two files. I also ran a Malwarebytes scan and found nothing.

              Should I just reinstall Windows? That usually fixes whatever the problem is…

                Hello Nick, Reinstalling Windows will always fix problems with the operating system, or malware but a rather drastic step. We are happy to research your logs, but as it is time consuming could you please advise if you require us to do so or if you are going to reinstall Windows. This will save a deal of effort for maybe nought.

                If you are not going to reinstall Windows could I also ask that you not run any scan tools except those requested to by us, or install/update any other software whilst your pc is being cleaned?

                Two things requiring urgent attention with the PC. The hard Disk is almost full, and system restore is disabled. Please consider removing some unused software and data.

                    Please explain to me what you’d recommend I’d do rather than installing Windows so I can determine whether I want to go through with your steps or just reinstall Windows.

                    She is using her little 128gb SSD to store tons of GoPro footage, and as soon as se gets an external hard drive, that will be completely remedied.

                      Removing malware can be a time consuming multi step procedure. It’s your choice atm to decide to reinstall windows or not. We are happy to help clean your system, but ask that time spent is not for nought.
                      Installing/updating software can make it harder if not impossible to clean a computer.

                      I repeat, the hard drive is almost full and system restore is disabled. Recommend priority attention to both issues.

                        Thanks, Gus. I think I’m just gonna go ahead and reinstall Windows, I’ve done it multiple times and it isn’t too much of a hassle for me. But thanks for the help anyway!
