Today I uninstalled Bitdefender and went back to Avast.
Reason for uninstalling Bitdefender was because it was taking up too much space (about 9gb)
Now I find in Program Files there is still an entry for Bitdefender (About 2.1gb), but I am unable to delete folder.
Reason - You require permission from Administrators (presumably me!!!) to make changes to this folder??
Further to my first post I tried uninstalling Bitdefender with the Bitdefender uninstall tool/Geek uninstaller/Revo uninstaller - Bitdefender still on PC.
I will add that Bitdefender does not show in Programs and Features List.
Folder is in Program Files as explained in first post, but I cannot delete it.
When I used Bitdefender uninstall tool the result was as seen in attachment.
vger,
Not exactly sure what you mean?
The administrator thing always leaves me confused.
you can check by either going to Control Panel, User Accounts and it’ll show you there.
or start a command prompt and type in net localgroup administrators and if you see your account, you are an Admin.
malnutrition,
Please see second attempt.
This was done after a message popped up saying that a Bitdefender update required a reboot.
(Not sure if it is any different to first attempt_
Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop.
NOTE. It’s important that both files, FRST/FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
Run FRST/FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your reply.
Hopefully I’ve done everything correctly!!
Please see attachments.
Although Privazer was showing on desktop it didn’t show when I clicked on attach files - so I copied and pasted as below.
Possibly did something wrong - hopefully not!!
Should Privazer have been in same location as FRST etc?
Download the Everything Search Engine.
