When I click on new archive in Buttercup I get the following

Clicking new archive does not open a window like that. Clicking on new archive opens a dialogue where you input a name and create a NEW ARCHIVE, which is created in a .bcup file format.
Please follow the steps1 - 4 in post 14 to create a.csv file.
DO NOT TRY AND MAKE A .CSV FILE by selecting all exported text from the lastpass opened browser tab and saving as a.csv file. That did not work for me and resulted in a different file to that obtained when using the steps in post 14
When I go to LastPass and then export using Chrome I get /export.php at the end. When I use the LastPass extension using Chrome I go to advanced and then make .csv I get /export.html I don’t know if that is what I should have. I then push ctrl a to select all then I copy and paste to a blank notepad I saved it as a .txt not a .csv I am still unable to get that notepad to import to Buttercup.
I am not saving my passwords from LastPass correctly but I do not know what I am doing wrong.
Each time I open new archive in Buttercup I get the screen like I posted in #15.
I also tried Vivaldi and same issue. It seems like LastPass is not being saved as a .csv file. You said not to save the passwords as a .csv file.
When you were able to import your passwords to Buttercup did you change the encoding? Which encoding did you use? Did you use the LastPass extension to import your passwords or did you use the LastPass website?
When you were able to import your passwords to Buttercup did you change the encoding? Which encoding did you use? Did you use the LastPass extension to import your passwords or did you use the LastPass website?
Did not change encoding
used lastpass extension
please follow instructions provided which your last post indicates you havent been
I am using Vivaldi browser since I could find a select all option in the Edit menu.
I opened the LastPass extension. I get the browser tab with all my passwords. I click on import and save as a csv file. I click the select all option in the Edit menu of Vivaldi. I then did ctrl c to copy then I opened a blank notepad and then did ctrl v to paste here is what that looks like
I typed in the file name and clicked save it saved to my desktop with a .txt Do I need to change the save as type to all files? Do I need to convert this to a .csv using an online converter or do I change .txt to .csv to save it as a .csv file? I am not understanding how to change the notepad to a .csv.
Here is what it looks like saved on my desktop
I open Buttercup after that and I get the same window that I showed in post #14
Once again thanks very much for your help. I need it.
Please follow the instructions in post 14, particularly steps 1 through 4.
I did advise in post 14 that what you are trying to do DID NOT WORK FOR ME, but steps 1-4 did work. Please try and follow those steps only. Let me know what parts of THOSE STEPS only you are having problems with?
To change a new text document .txt file to a csv file simply go to the file menu in the text file and choose save as. Then name the file whatever you want with a .csv extension.
DO NOT TRY AND SAVE THE FILE AS A .csv IN YOUR BROWSER, that did not work for me (or others according to Mr Google)
First step I logged into LastPass extension and clicked save a .csv file.
Then I went to edit and select all then I copied and pasted to a blank notepad
I went to file and save as in notepad and change from .txt to .csv this is what it looks like
If what I wrote above is not the right way to save a .csv file please tell me how to do so. Saving the .csv file is where I am having the issues. I am saving the newpass.csv to my desktop.
I then went to Buttercup and got this
the newpass.csv did not show when I got the above window I also clicked on desktop but nothing showed in the new archive.
Below is what happened when I clicked new archive in Buttercup
I am not trying to save the file in my browser. If I am doing that please tell me how to save to text file.
I am selecting all in the browser window showing the passwords then I copy and past to blank text file. Is that the right way to not save in my browser?
I then went to Buttercup and got this

Tell me why you are trying to save a .bcup file which is what you indicate here?

First step I logged into LastPass extension and clicked save a .csv file.
This is what shows after I log into LastPass extension and after I click on export
I select the LastPass csv file. Should I be choosing the form fill option?
The other attachment is showing you what I get when I go to file and new archive in Buttercup. When I have clicked on new archive towards the bottom of Buttercup then new archive I also get the same window.
I am doing the above perhaps in error to try to get my LastPass passwords to Buttercup.
Please take your time for the guide. I will look forward to viewing it. If it would be easier or faster for you maybe consider making a video. Please do which ever one is easier for you.
For this guide I am going to assume you have successfully installed Buttercup
This short guide was compiled using a Windows 10, 64bit, build 1803 PC.
The browser used was Mozilla based which had a LastPass extension. Did not attempt to export passwords from the LastPass website, which may or may not work?
There were TWO separate steps needed to get my LastPass passwords imported into Buttercup. I am not familiar with this password manager but the following DID work for me.
Step one.
Open Buttecup and click on “ADD ARCHIVE” then New Archive File, or alternatively click the file menu, then “New Archive”. Either way will bring you to the same dialogue box. Name and save the file whatever and wherever you like.
Here we called our new archive “new password list”
And saved it to the desktop.

Buttercup will now ask for a master Password, create one and click Confirm, and reconfirm.

The new password list file is created on the desktop.

End Step one.
Step two.
Right click a blank space on the desktop and select Text Document from the context menu.
Code:

We now have a blank .txt file on the desktop.
Code:

Next open a browser, click the LastPass extension icon then More options/advanced/export/LastPass CSV File
Code:
https://i.imgur.com/Ctjq0T7.jpg
LastPass will ask for your LastPass Master Password. Insert it and click Continue.
Code:

Go to the browser Edit menu, click it and then choose Select All from the drop down menu.
Once all the data is highlighted right click anywhere within it and Select copy from the dialogue box menu.
Close or minimize the browser.
Now open the empty .txt document file we created on the desktop in step one.
Right click anywhere inside the empty .txt file and choose Paste from the dialogue box.
The lastPass data is now in the .txt file. Click the File menu and choose Save As…
Code:
https://i.imgur.com/NnRRakp.jpg
Name the file whatever you like, and add a .csv extension.
Here we named the file as lastpasspw.csv and saved it to the desktop.
Code:
https://i.imgur.com/sXNyYch.jpg
The new .csv file is created on the desktop.
Code:
https://i.imgur.com/dxCcNwt.jpg
Open Buttercup, click the button on the left. This button represents the new archive we created earlier in step one. Buttercup will ask for the Buttercup Master Password we created earlier, enter it and click confirm.
Code:
https://i.imgur.com/6UIHSUi.jpg
The Buttercup interface will change. Click the File menu, choose Import, Then From LastPass archive (.csv), then To New Password List .bcup.. (or whatever you called your new buttercup archive)
Code:
https://i.imgur.com/nurpWQE.jpg
Buttercup automatically found my LastPasspw.csv file created earlier, but if by chance yours doesn’t simply navigate to where yours is, click on it and select Open.
Code:

The password data is imported into Buttercup.
Code:

To repeat the above worked for me, whether it is the correct procedure or not I don’t know. Good luck.
Thanks very much for this guide. This showed when I went to file and new archive. I do not know why. Would you please explain why this happened and how to fix it. Should I uninstall Buttercup and then reinstall it? When I installed Buttercup I used the butttercup.pw website and used the Windows option.
I reinstalled Buttercup. I opened file explorer and did a search in both ThisPC and also the c drive for .bcup and .csv files didn’t find any files in either location. When I tried to make a new archive in Buttercup I got the same window that I posted in #27.
Where do I need to search for other .bcup or .csv files?
I’m sorry but I have tried to assist. The guide I prepared in post number 26 worked (now twice) for me. If you are unable to get yours to work then someone with more knowledge, and patience, will have to assist you with this. Perhaps Mr. Google may also help.
