CPL cause even if the quality would of course be less than directly to the modem, itβs still an ethernet connection so thatβs kinda weird.

No it is not
Iβm pretty sure it is lol. Like I said I understand what Bruce said and I was wrong saying βitβs almost the same thingβ. The data doesnβt flow very well through all the cables of the apartment but I still receive data over cable and not via wireless signals, thatβs the difference between Ethernet and WiFI. My other roommate that uses this CPL had 0 issues with it. Even if the download speed is inferior to what you would have by directly plugging your PC to the modem, plugging it to the CPL through Ethernet still offers a more stable connection than using WiFi.

are you connecting to the 2.4 or the 5GHz via wifi
Itβs set up to 5GHz I think. With this modem we donβt have 2 different signals that we can connect to but I think you can like set it up yourself using the app and by default it should be 5Ghz.

Have you checked for any newer drivers for the Wi-Fi adapter?
Yes I made sure to install the latest version.

The reviews for the TP Link suggest it gives slow speeds for those people.
I have still a faster speed compared to when Iβm using the USB adapter and like I said it works fine on the other PCs, thatβs what I find so strange

Okay so I just saw that on Videotronβs website :
Your Helix Fi gateway is smart: it will automatically choose the most appropriate radio frequency (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). Each frequency has its benefits.
[ul]
[li]The 2.4-GHz frequency provides better coverage and can easily travel through matter (e.g., walls or large obstacles).[/li][li]The 5-GHz frequency is less affected by interference, which can be caused by things like microwaves. Itβs also up to three times faster than the 2.4-GHz frequency.[/li][/ul]
The thing is I canβt really see on the app at which frenquency itβs set up but I guess itβs at 5GHz if I can download at 40MB/s on my laptop from my room.
I saw that on more expensive WiFi cards on Amazon it is specified that it is compatible with the 5GHz frequency, while on the adapter that I bought it isnβt (even if it doesnβt really say that itβs only for 2.4GHz tho).
However since I have the issue where the USB adapter of my friend works on every PC except my desktop one, I am still not really sure that the problem directly comes from the PCIe adapter that I have, so I canβt decide to spend money on a new one yet β¦
Okay so I probably figured out what the issue is. Reading Videotronβs description I thought that the modem provides only one signal ( either 2.4 or 5 GHz) depending on the situation. Instead, I think it provides both signals, and the PC that connects to the WiFi chooses one signal. So I checked the infos of the WiFi I am connected to and it shows 2.4GHz while on the other PCs it shows 5GHz. When I tried the USB adapter of my friend, the WiFi that I was connected to was already set up to 2.4GHz, I should have forgotten it and then reconnect.
So basically my Network Adapter only works with 2.4GHz and to solve the issue I can buy another Adapter that works with 5GHz.
2.4GHz vs 5GHz both have their proβs and conβs.
basically 2.4 has better penetration and travels further and 5 is faster but doesnβt go through walls well.
