TV model is a Sony KD 49XG8096. Itβs on the most up to date software. Router is a BT business hub 6. ISP is Plusnet. Iβm on a FTTC product 55/10 connection.

Iβll be honest, Iβm not entirely sure why itβs acting the way it is, you could try switching that new router in if you want to test it, Sony offers very few troubleshooting techniques for this set, so you might just have to keep plucking away at what it isnβt until something gives.
As for the router, they seem to be quite unreliable in terms of display date, no apparent fixes for unwilling updates.
Hopefully some other members can chime in with ideas.Comment

at this stage it may be the router or the cable.
the TV was fine for ages with the cat5 but that just may have been good luck, you would need to run it for, say, a month to have real confidence.
if after that period, the TV never had an issue, then yes, cat5 vs cat6 is stuffing you up somehow.
could be the cat6 is unshielded and more prone to EMP interference, could be you snake the cable closer to some power point or heater or something.
if itβs cat5e, there is no speed difference between that and cat6, so nothing wrong with staying on cat5 and side stepping all this stress.
as to the modem/router - the firmware would be good to apply and the reason why you canβt resolved!
and yes, trying another modem would help pinpoint the issue.Comment

Make sure that you get one that is combatable with you ISP modem.
Have personally had no issues with name brands working with modems yet have heard of others that have just bought a router and since it was not on the recommended list they did not work properly.Comment

Thanks @Rustys
Ive have no issues with TP link kit. As I have no modem, it would have to be a combined DSL Modem Router anyway
Im updaing the TV software, as noted above. Ive attached a screengrab of the fixes, nothing about ethernet issues though

Hi @Rustys
Youve pre-empted me posting
Its been just over 7 days since I put on the older Plusnet Hub1. I kept all cabling the same, Iβve had no router restarts, and TV uptime is over 200hrs.
Its not dropped the ethernet connection at all, and everythingβs been fine. i also reset the DHCP lease time to 1 day. In my humble opinion, this does point to the BT Business hub either not likeing the TV with CAT6 cable, or being faulty, although its very odd it only happened to the TV, and not the SkyQ box thats also connected via ethernet. Only reasoning I can come up with is the Sky box goes into an eco mode overnight. The TV is in a standby mode.
Any ideas on next steps⦠I can put the business hub back on, and see if I get any issues, or stick with Hub 1 with its woeful wireless performance.
Happy to try anything at this pointβ¦Comment
