    HIDDEN NETWORK

Does anyone know why do I keep see HIDDEN NETWORK on my wifi even after I disconnect all my routers and internet? I keep see that from my computer and I don’t know where it is coming from. No one lives around me because I am the only one living in the area.

something in your region is pumping out a wireless signal that your wireless adapter is picking up.
some β€˜smart’ device in your house, or in your neighbourhood.

for example, I’ve setup omni-directional roof antennas between a house and a shed.
they advertise a signal range of 7klms!

Thanks for responding. But it looks like it is from my router. If I connect the router and use my ssid and password, the internet get connected but when I disconnect the router it doesn’t get connected. It is really strange to see that β€œHIDDEN NETWORK” even after I disconnect my router.

Can you post a screen shot this way we can see what you are seeing?

            What version of windows?

If Windows 10 do you see Manage Known Networks if so, click that
            then
Click on a Network name and then click Forget.

I tried it but for some reason it doesn’t show on my Networks on Manage. I only see it from WIFI , I already check my router setting and Hidden network is off.

that hidden network is close, as indicated by the signal strength.
if you turn off all your wireless devices (modem, router, etc) and still see the hidden network SSID then you either still have a wireless device transmitting, or that network isn’t coming from a source that you control.

It is so strange because i see it even after I disconnect everything. Modem, router. Never seen anything like that and I am worry it has something to do with hacking

when you say β€œdisconnect everything” I assume you mean pulling out their power, and not β€˜disconnecting’ as in the wifi terminology?

then that network is not one of yours.

that new hidden network is Open, so doesn’t need any password to join.
if you can’t, it must be MAC restricted.

the β€˜bridge’ you speak of, does it have an ethernet port, if so, connect using that, then you’ll get an IP address, can work out the gateway address, and login on using that from a browser to configure the bridge and remove that network.
