Hi, I recently upgraded my wifi, it seems to work well on my smartphone, but not so on my desktop and laptop.
My desktop was bought around 2014-2015 and I bought a 802.11n wifi adapter soon after that since the original built adapter has connection problem.
My laptop on the other hand was just bought last year.
You say youβve upgraded your wifi, does this mean a new router from your ISP or that youβve changed providers & theyβve sent you a new router?
Desktops donβt usually have wifi installed as these are not portable. The wifi dongle seems to be 2.4Ghz only as it is 802.11n (to use the 5Ghz youβd need one which uses 802.11ac).
Have you tried a different USB port? Are the Ports USB 2 or USB 3? Is the dongle USB 2 or USB 3 capable?
If you changed ISP then it may be a case of too many users online in your area, this would explain why the speed drops after 5 hours.

Iβve just done testing, the laptop seems donβt have any problem since I donβt use it much unless I bring it to work, which means browsing is minimal.
But this desktop wifi speed fluctuated after a couple of hours, and I have to restart it.
My wifi will always do this weird thing of disconnecting from the wifi, itβs kind of nerve wrecking when you are in the middle of important work.
I did a 5 hour turn on, the speed is fairly good.
Around 15 - 20 feet. I guess. I just checked on the router, itβs definitely router problem since the router itself use sim card, not the typical fiber optic type, so reception goes bad according to weather. All in all, the speed problem is solved. Thanks.
