You also only have a little over 10% of your system drive as free space, not saying it’s your issue here but it sure will help your system to remove some apps you don’t use.

You do know that you need a flash plugin for Internet Explorer and a different one for Firefox.

I suspect you keep trying to download the IE one and not the FF one.

Grab it from this link for non-IE browsers, except Chrome
      [ICODE]http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_24_plugin.exe[/ICODE]
And just in case you need it, this will uninstall Flash

You can also do the download ans install form safe mode with networking.
        or
Download in normal mode and install in safe mode.

Your security software could be blocking Flash player form being installed. Disable 360 Total Security and any other security software and then try the install again and see it that allows it to go through. If it does or does not then re-enable it.
I did try with 360 disabled but still have the same problem.
I’ll remove some programmes to free up space then try Revo.

I’m not sure which programmes I don’t need and can remove. There are loads of Microsoft ones there but I’ve no idea if they are doing anything useful!
Apart fron the Microsofy Office progs, the ones I do need are:
Basic PAYE Tools, Canon Printer & Navigator & Scan, Dropbox, Gimp, Samsung Kies & Smartswitch, VLC.
Can you tell me what is essential & I can get rid of the rest.

EDIT POST, sorry I should have looked properly. It appears you already have Revo so see if the apps above are listed and if so use it to remove them.
Same problem with Revo. I can download but can’t install. I do already have Revo on this machine - downloaded July 2015 - but if I can’t install Revo it seems unlikely that I will be able to reinstall Flash.

What browser are you using to download Flash form the Adobe site?

Have you tried uninstalling form Programs and Features?

Before you click Download to download flash player Post a screen shot.

Let me go through the list and get back to you.

Since you have it do not worry about installing another version.

Did you have any luck with safe mode?

                  Revo Uninstaller portable
                  Revo Uninstaller Portable | PortableApps.com

Doesn’t require an install. You can run it off a stick or a folder on your desktop. All you have to do is unpack it.

If the computer refuses to do that then get someone else to unpack it from his/her computer onto a USB stick for you and use it from the stick.

Do you have the Microsoft Vista disk for the system. Not system restore the actual Vista install disk.
If you do then will strongly suggest a repair install.

He already has Revo installed, listed in his previous log file. He hasn’t said he’s tried to use it?

That plugin seemed to do the trick. I was able to install flash player and all looked good until a notice came up saying β€œAdobe Flash Player 24.0 r0 has stopped working”

That was yesterday & I was going to attach the notice with a β€œview problem details” panel. I did a screenshot, cropped and saved as a jpg but for some reason I cannot attach it, in fact I can’t attach even a short txt file - I click β€˜Upload a File’, select the file, click β€˜open’ the file name appears & the β€˜progress bar’ which stays at 0% then all disappears. Never had that problem before and attached the β€˜progs.jpg’ file just a few minutes before - #35. rebooted PC but still can’t attach a file…

I reinstalled Flash today and the notice has not reappeared. How do I test if Flash is now actually working?

Sorry I’m being so slow following up on all your suggestions. I have to prepare, complete and submit Company Accounts to HMRC (IRS equiv) by tomorrow and that’s taking all my time! But I really do appreciate your help and I will follow up after that!

As Gus says there are issues with your Winsock lets start out by replacing them.

                                Download Winsock.reg and WinSock2.reg below.
Save them both to your desktop.
Right click them one at a time and select merge.

                                ================================================== =========================================

Then from an elevated command prompt copy and paste the commands below one at a time hitting enter after each.
                                Hit the start button.
                                Type CMD.
Right click the icon that appears.
                                Select run as administrator.

                                Reg: reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Pol icy\Local /f
                                Reg: reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Pol icy\Local /f
                                ipconfig /flushdns
                                netsh winsock reset catalog
                                netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
                                netsh int ipv4 reset
                                shutdown -r

After the machine has rebooted, we really need to set a static ip on your machine. This way you get a permanent lease and do not have to deal with disconnections. You may notice it, you may not. But if this happens during a download whatever you download may end up being corrupted and not work.

                                From your logs:

                                Code:
