You also only have a little over 10% of your system drive as free space, not saying itβs your issue here but it sure will help your system to remove some apps you donβt use.
Can download some programs but then unable to install them

You do know that you need a flash plugin for Internet Explorer and a different one for Firefox.
I suspect you keep trying to download the IE one and not the FF one.
Grab it from this link for non-IE browsers, except Chrome
[ICODE]http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_24_plugin.exe[/ICODE]
And just in case you need it, this will uninstall Flash

Your security software could be blocking Flash player form being installed. Disable 360 Total Security and any other security software and then try the install again and see it that allows it to go through. If it does or does not then re-enable it.
Iβll remove some programmes to free up space then try Revo.Comment

Iβm not sure which programmes I donβt need and can remove. There are loads of Microsoft ones there but Iβve no idea if they are doing anything useful!
Apart fron the Microsofy Office progs, the ones I do need are:
Basic PAYE Tools, Canon Printer & Navigator & Scan, Dropbox, Gimp, Samsung Kies & Smartswitch, VLC.
Can you tell me what is essential & I can get rid of the rest.Comment

Originally posted by gusAlso you could download Revo from HERE and install it. That will tell us wether or not you can install software. If Revo installs open it and have a look in the list of software for Adobe flash or Shockwave in the list. If one or both are there uninstall them, and then try to reinstall flash.
EDIT POST, sorry I should have looked properly. It appears you already have Revo so see if the apps above are listed and if so use it to remove them.Comment

Have you tried uninstalling form Programs and Features?
Before you click Download to download flash player Post a screen shot.
Let me go through the list and get back to you.
Originally posted by KiredoryorSame problem with Revo. I can download but canβt install. I do already have Revo on this machine - downloaded July 2015 - but if I canβt install Revo it seems unlikely that I will be able to reinstall Flash.
Did you have any luck with safe mode?Comment

Revo Uninstaller portable
Revo Uninstaller Portable | PortableApps.com
Doesnβt require an install. You can run it off a stick or a folder on your desktop. All you have to do is unpack it.
If the computer refuses to do that then get someone else to unpack it from his/her computer onto a USB stick for you and use it from the stick.Comment

Do you have the Microsoft Vista disk for the system. Not system restore the actual Vista install disk.
If you do then will strongly suggest a repair install.Comment

That was yesterday & I was going to attach the notice with a βview problem detailsβ panel. I did a screenshot, cropped and saved as a jpg but for some reason I cannot attach it, in fact I canβt attach even a short txt file - I click βUpload a Fileβ, select the file, click βopenβ the file name appears & the βprogress barβ which stays at 0% then all disappears. Never had that problem before and attached the βprogs.jpgβ file just a few minutes before - #35. rebooted PC but still canβt attach a fileβ¦
I reinstalled Flash today and the notice has not reappeared. How do I test if Flash is now actually working?Comment

Sorry Iβm being so slow following up on all your suggestions. I have to prepare, complete and submit Company Accounts to HMRC (IRS equiv) by tomorrow and thatβs taking all my time! But I really do appreciate your help and I will follow up after that!

As Gus says there are issues with your Winsock lets start out by replacing them.
Download Winsock.reg and WinSock2.reg below.
Save them both to your desktop.
Right click them one at a time and select merge.
================================================== =========================================
Then from an elevated command prompt copy and paste the commands below one at a time hitting enter after each.
Hit the start button.
Type CMD.
Right click the icon that appears.
Select run as administrator.
Reg: reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Pol icy\Local /f
Reg: reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Pol icy\Local /f
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
netsh int ipv4 reset
shutdown -r
================================================== =========================================
After the machine has rebooted, we really need to set a static ip on your machine. This way you get a permanent lease and do not have to deal with disconnections. You may notice it, you may not. But if this happens during a download whatever you download may end up being corrupted and not work.
From your logs:
Code:Error: (12/08/2016 05:12:31 PM) (Source: Dhcp) (User: ) Description: Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address 192.168.1.125 on the Network Card with network address 00242C24744A. Now we should reset FireFox and Internet Explorer to default settings. This tool will save all your bookmarks and passwords.
Download ResetBrowser To your desktop.
Now close all open browsers.
Right click and run as administrator.

Click on Reset Firefoxβ Allow completion.
Complete the same for internet explorer.
Now reboot your machine.
Tell me if you are able to download proper now.Comment
