Entirely your choice which drive you use in all honesty but the procedure suggested is the normal way, the larger capacity the drive the more partitions that you can create.

Understood.
A quick question:
Is there a way for me to manually βconcludeβ this thread (either now or after the W11 reinstall)?
Your signature text suggests that itβs the polite thing to do but I had a quick scout and couldnβt see the optionβ¦

Okie Dokie.
Unfortunately, the fresh Windows install hasnβt resolved the issue. Iβm ready to try again though. I believe windows may have, once I finally gave it internet access, overwritten the drivers I had installed manually earlier (chipset/drives and graphics). Things seemed to get messy once the internet was connected and updates started happening but maybe Iβm just being paranoid.
Hereβs a quick run-down of the steps I took:- Downloaded latest stable drivers from MSI and AMD and unzipped them to a USB.
- Made a bootable windows 11 installation media USB.
- Removed my 1TB SSD
- Booted off the installation media USB and ran the set up.
- Tried to βskip important updatesβ but there was no option to do so.
5.5) Began the whole set up again so I could impliment step 6.
- Used OOBE\BYPASSNPR and forced windows to allow offline set up.
- Installed my drivers.
- Finished set up and partitioned the OS drive (left 256GB for OS).
- Connected to the internet and let windows update.
- Installed various things like Discord, Steam (on separate partition), Chrome etc.
- I also reinstalled the 1TB SSD this morning.
Once it had all settled in, I installed the games that most reliably produced the problem quickly.- Helldivers 2: Froze and kicked me to desktop a few minutes into the mission and produced 300 critical events in reliability monitor.
- Wildlands: Froze 20 minutes in and, like helldivers, could be closed in task manager.
Hereβs a speccy sheet: https://speccy.piriform.com/results/...LalpafCOYoz25R
And a fresh MTB file is linkedβ¦
Also saw some new errors in event viewer (besides the myriad 141 errors). Not sure if theyβre relevent or just symtoms of whatever else is going on. Iβll put some screenshots of them in.
Iβm thinking perhaps I should take my whole rig into the shop where I bought the components and have them test for potential PSU/Mobo issuesβ¦Comment

If you decide to re-install again, before connecting to the internet try this:
Hit Start, type Change Device Installation Settings, click it to open, choose No, ignore warning, click save changes.
This will stop Windows from downloading and installing what it thinks are the best drivers for your system. It will continue to download updates but not drivers.Comment

Sorry but there is an old saying " you have got to be able to walk before you can run " and because you have gone off and in the main done your own thing you have unfortunately as they say tripped yourself up.
Short version, you have not done exactly as was advised and to make matters worse you have enabled XMP as well.

Reset bios to default
Reinstall, but this time use rufus to create a local account:
Before you install anything at all once disable updates.
Windows Update Blocker is a Portable freeware that helps you to completely disable or enable Automatic Updates on your Windows system.
Proceed to install your drives manually:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-X870-TOMAHAWK-WIFI
Start with Chipset.
Once wifi is installed, then use this to remove trash from the machine.
