I’m having an issue where my approximately 8 years old Acer Spin3 laptop keeps disconnecting from the internet. It seems to happen more often if I’m doing multiple things on my laptop, but it will disconnect even when I’m simply looking at email or something too. It goes from the ??? to ??? symbol and I have to restart my laptop to get back online. Sometimes the ??? symbol comes back, but I can’t connect to the internet until I restart my laptop. I have a few games that I play that were on my Startup that I took off of that, but that didn’t help.
laptop disconnects from internet constantly, need to restart

1) Let’s show the complete PC specs using Speccy by Piriform - Get Speccy - Is Speccy safe?
In Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot (hit Yes if prompted) > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
Paste that link into your post.
2) Speccy doesn’t show the Power Supply Unit so list the make/model of the PSU.
3) Let’s also show installed programs using MiniToolBox by FarBar - Get MTB
In MTB, tick List Installed Programs, click Go then close the program.
A file MTB.txt is created in the same folder, attach that in a post. -
Set a static ip.
Remove all security programs except windows defender then reboot.
Antivirus Removal Tool (freeware) is a portable program to detect and completely remove antivirus software. It will help you to identify current and past installations, and it will provide you with the official specialized uninstallers. These are designed by the manufacturers of the antivirus programs to completely delete all files, drivers, services, and registry recordsComment

In my post, click the link to download Speccy.
In the download folder it was saved to, double click the speccy executable file to install it.
Once installed, click on Start and find the program in the list and click it to run it.
Then, in the program, click File, then Publish Snapshot, then Copy to Clipboard, then Close.
You now have the link we are chasing copied, paste that link into your next post.Comment

I’ll go through the Speccy report - but rest assured - there is nothing in it that can be used against you.
It contains nothing that isn’t publicly available already, and in no way offers us, or anyone reading the report, any access to your PC or data.
With the MTB file, again it contains Application Errors, System Errors, and CodeIntegrity Errors, but not Installed Programs.
Can you double check, when you run it, that NO boxes are ticked EXCEPT for the 10th one down the list labelled - List Installed Programs. (y)Comment

Remove Nortons using their supplied removal tool from their website. If it turns out not to affects things, it can be reinstalled later.
Go to Control Panel, Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, double click your wireless adapter.
Look for anything power related.
Anything that mentions Wake On - set to on/enable, anything that says Sleep on - set to off/disable.
Also look for any category that mentions Power Save Mode.
See if anything helps after tweaking those settings.
If not, while still in Device Manager, right click the wireless adapter, and choose Uninstall.
Reboot the laptop and Windows will discover new hardware and reinstall it.
See if that helps.
If not, I’d be visiting the Intel website and looking for an updated wireless driver.
Other options are a repair install of Windows, or even bypassing the issue altogether and getting a USB wireless dongle for about $30.
Also, have you tried rebooting the modem?Comment

And good news, this MTB report was spot on.
It shows a few things to remove;
[ul]
[li]Norton’s (as already mentioned)[/li][li]Acer Jumpstart[/li][li]Acer Config manager[/li][li]Driver setup utility[/li][/ul]
After uninstalling those, do the other things mentioned in post #13 and let us know how you get on.Comment
