    Disk Managment never loads?

#1- Make sure you don’t have other Disks plugged in via USB. If you do, unplug them all and then try Disk Managment.

#2- Hit start, type services and hit enter. Look for VDS or Virtual Disk Services, right click it and stop it and start it again. If disabled, enable and reboot.

    Let us know.

See if this is any help

Git the Disk Management connecting to Virtual Disk service? A restart of the Virtual Disk servuce and other fixes in this guide will help.

Thanks for the reply. There are NO disks plugged in, and I tried that Virtual Disk Services. No good.

Hi Rustys, tried that. Tried to disable, and then enable. Tried both manual and automatic. Still not working. Maybe this is a coincidence, but I just did a backup to an external disc, but that external disc is out.

That may be why then if the drive was not removed correctly.

Has the system been rebooted (not shut down)?

See if that clears it up if not there is a program that may help and or we can just have you manually remove it for the drive list in Device Manager.

I have shut down the computer several times since the problem, and then started up again. Especially overnight.

Like I stated Reboot or in Windows maybe Restart[COLOR=rgb(243, 121, 52)] Not a Shut Down

See if this explains the differance better.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I did a RESTART, instead of the regular shut down etc. It looks like the problem is resolved. If I now type disk management, it DOES load where I can partition the disks etc. Many thanks to all who offered suggestions, Mike
