Dell Optiplex 745 BIOS update error message Program Payload Error
I have a Dell Optiplex 745 with Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 with four gigs of RAM. I am trying to update it to the latest BIOS update 2.6.6 on Dells website.
I keep getting this error message Program Payload Error. I was able to update the BIOS before this one fine. I think it is 2.6.4 The Service Tag is 5K5SMC1. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Okay but why is that BIOS update on the Dell Optiplex 745 download page. I have seen videos of people downloading and updating that computer. I want to update the cpu in that computer.
I contacted Dell support. They said the board is probably not compatible with that BIOS. I should update the cpu to Q6600 and to use the BSEL mod to bump to 3.0.
