CPU overheating? Again? Not sure

Hello, my name is Tom and im not very expirienced when it comes to computers so sorry if i make it more difficult..

Let me start off by saying that I had similiar issue to this before a few months ago or so , I even made a thread here on forums about it, and you guys were so nice to help me find the solution to fix it

Okay , let me explain then what happened , lately everything been fine , my pc was running ok , for example when I played league of legends I would have normal 100-140 fps.
Then randomly my monitor desktop would start flashing , turn off for a secound and turn back on , and everything was fine afterwards for rest of the day , when i wake up next day and turn on pc same thing would happen ( and it always happened a bit after turning on pc and playing) then few days later It would happen again , this time as soon as I turn on pc , except this time the monitor didnt turn back on after going off, I had to restart pc couple times and at some point it would work normal.

And this has been happening for last month or so , yesterday I found out that the GPU fan isn’t working , so thought maybe thats the cause? I checked the heat on it (u can see it on the screenshots up there) and was surprised cause the GPU heat seems normal , but the CPU one isnt , even tho the CPU fan is strong and working correctly?

So that got me super confused , so the next day (today) as soon as I woke up I opened my computer and tried to clean the dust from it and stuff inside of it , I didnt re apply the thermal paste under the CPU fan cause it seemd like it was still there and was okay , so after doing everything and cleaning the computer I tried to boot it , but I had this monitor issue once again , this time it was diffrent , the LG logo would show and would start flickering , so I tried restarting the pc and switching cables etc etc , after one hour the pc turned normal and everything was fine , I turned on League of Legends and I noticed how much laggier everything is and couldn’t understand why , It should be better after cleaning right?

My fps was down to 50-61 (and would randomly drop to 30-40) while my old fps used to be 100-140 , and no I havent changed anything in the game settings or anything , everything is still the same as it used to be , also I checked and my CPU usage would go up to 80%-90% while playing League (same while playing other games) so I looked up youtube video on how to fix CPU usage , and the guy in it told to go to task manager and “set affinitiy” for a program that is causign the high CPU and turn off half of the “CPUs” there for the program and it should fix it , and after I did it it seemd fine , the CPU in league was down to 50% or 40% , but the laggs and low fps was still exactly the same?

So here I am now writing this post , with no clue what else I could try!
even right now while writing this thread im lagigng cause i have 2 tabs open which isn’t normal… right now the CPU is 94 C ( thats what the Speccy is showing)

quick update, while playing WoW I just noticed the GPU raised all the way to 180 f and CPU usage was at 100% when I exited the game?
So it could be the GPU overheating causing the problems?

Acting like the CPU need to have new thermal goop put on (Remember to CLEAN OFF the old). Make sure that all the heat sinks and fans are clear of debree.
Are all fans turning for bringing air into/out of the system

Yes , I did it just now , I re applied the thermal paste and cleaned a bit , and turned back PC , played WoW for 5 min , and pc crashed ( screen went black and sound froze) restarted pc and played WoW again and right away noticed my fps drop low , it says that my CPU temp is 71 C right now and GPU 54 C but the CPU usage is at 50-40% just while writing this replay =/ so I dont understand what’s wrong , also the GPU fan isnt working btw[/color][/color]

GPU fan is (if it does require it) plugged in to a power source?
Have you tried re-seating the graphics card?
Does the same thing happen (if there is one) with the on board graphics?
Have you ran a sfc /scannow, chkds /r, and tested the RAM?
Also make user all components are seated properly and connected securely?

also , just now I have opened side of my computer and put big (normal non pc) fan next to it and turned it on , and while I was playing everything was fine , fps , just a small random rare freezes, the temperature was perfect low and after 10-15 min the screen went black again and i had to restart pc ,
after restarting the computer all of sudden “Advanced System care” program is showing that my CPU temp is 100c GPU 46 C and mainboard is 75 C. Don’t understand it since 1 min before restart it was perfect , and right after turning it back on its all overheated all of sudden

Has the fan worked before? Check the settings t make sure it is set to be constant on or if it is set for on when it hits a certain temp.

3 Not sure what you mean on board graphics?

Look at the back of the system there may be a connector for a monitor. Sometimes to activate it you will have to remove the video card out of the system.

The GPU fan used to work , and randomly all of sudden I noticed it’s not working anymore , and I belive that’s when the fps issues started? ( which i assume its caused by cpu usage? not sure)

I will try connecting it tomorrow to the other thing (the monitor)

and yeah , I’m about to run the CHDSK.

Also mind if i ask a question… Can the not working GPU fan be the one causing slow pc , everything laggy and low fps in games? another question i have is Can also those monitor issues be the ones causing the fps drop and pc lagging?[/color]

quick update , I did the CHDSK and it said “clean volume” pretty much right away , so I assume it’s fine?

Uhh.. So I have just completly cleaned my computer from every bit of dust etc , re applyed thermal paste to both GPU and CPU , the GPU fan still not working tho =/

With out the system on and you gently move the fan on the GPU do you feel resistance?

Does the same thing happen (if there is one) with the on board graphics?

Have you attempted this yet? You may need to remove the graphics card for the n board to work. If you do not know how then have some one that does.

Yes can’t move it , it’s locked good if thats what u mean, must be broken or something?

And not sure which one is the “on board graphics” cause I have 2 connectors in the back of my pc and I have it plugged into one of them

On the rear of some video cards there is a tab that may need to be moved and held into place in order to remove the card.
