Electrical items do develop faults at times.

Again testing with another monitor will rule that possibility out. EVEN WITHOUT DRIVERS Windows 7 8 or 10 should display full screen, albeit at a lower resolution.

Hi all, sorry ihavent replied in a while I have been very busy at work.

I have entered the service tag number on the dell website and I have found out that the computer is a " OptiPlex 580"
I have tried my computer on another monitor and my computer does the same thing on my friends screen too..
I have downloaded the support assist from the website so it can automatically detect problems and driver updates with my computer but that didn’t really do anything I selected “Run” and then it said to install and then after that it didn’t really do much..

Now that I have the model, I found this in a thread about a video problem in an Optiplex 580
It is a problem with the video drivers since Dell doesn’t have any win 10 drivers and doesn’t recommend installing windows 10.
You are using some MS supplied Win 10 video driver which doesn’t work.

I hope you purchased a Windows 7 Pro DVD because that was what the system shipped with. The serial number will be linked with a Pro version.

I have just emailed the company asking if the disc I brought was a windows 7 pro disc so I will be hearing back from them soon.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get my startup screen and BIOS to display correctly?
once I can see the BIOS screen properly hopefully its as simple as loading the computer up by disc and inserting the disc because I’m still running windows 10 currently and it’s still slowing my PC down and causing a nuisance to me.

That is because they are according to the current Windows version (ten). Until we get Seven back on the system.

See if the above link helps on getting the BIOS back to factory.

Have you also tried resetting the monitor back to factory settings?

i have tried resetting the monitor but that doesn’t change anything I just need to know how to start this system up from disc by changing the settings in the BIOS but because I cant see my BIOS screen properly I cant seem to do this. when I enter the disc into my computer it doesn’t even come up as an accessible disc in “my computer” either so I’m just hoping that it will load up correctly when I can sort out this “boot by disc” option through the BIOS.
sorry it takes me a while to reply on here sometimes I’m usually busy at work. but thank you all for your help with this issue and I really hope I can sort it out ASAP.

okay so as of now I press f12 on start up and I see an option that says “boot from DVD” so I press that option and it takes a little longer then usual from there to load but then low and behold it just takes me to my original login screen where I then enter my password and it just logs in as normal..
Would this be an error with the windows 7 disc I brought? I cant access the disc or file when the computer is on either it just shows me that there is nothing in the drive.

If you can’t boot from it and you can’t see what is on the disk, it could be a problem with your optical drive.
