    Windows 7 Install from disc

Hi all I want to do a clean install with windows and I have brought a windows 7 CD from amazon, I’m yet to test the CD because I’m unsure how to but I would like to do a wipe of my current windows 10 and a clean install of windows 7 can anyone help me with this problem ?
I know to open my BIOS and select the boot by CD option but unfortunately for some reason my computer cuts off some of my screen when It loads up and when I load my BIOS it does this too..
Iv’e tried to select a “letterbox” display via the screen but as you can see in the picture it’s not the screens fault as to why its doing this.
Thank you for any help all!

    Hi @Kane

You said you’ve tried another known working monitor correct?

Is your monitor plugged into the onboard graphics or a dedicated GPU?

Hello there I have not tried another monitor because I only have one monitor but in the past I never had this problem it just happenend one day, and I’m not sure about where my monitor is plugged into I only have one VGA input on the back of my computer so it has to be plugged into that.
      Thank you.

What operating system did the computer come with.

What is the make and model of the monitor?

You did make sure that there are drivers for that system for windows seven?

Has the BIOS pages ever shown correctly and have you tried a factory settings on the monitor?

The computer originally had windows 7 installed on it but I done a “recommended update” to windows 10.

          The monitor is a “Videocon V321LEA” Amazon.co.uk .

No I didn’t check that there were drivers

The bios used to show up fine it’s only recently that this has been happening
I don’t think it’s the monitoar because it’s cut off when in normal display and then as displayed in the picture I changed the display to the “letter box” display and the display is still cut off.
          Thanks!

If it originally came with Seven then there will be drives.

What is the make and model of the computer?

If you could barrow another monitor for a friend and see if it does the same thing?

Not all Dell computers with Windows 7 supported upgrading to Windows 10. I’m in the US so I’d check when people said they were having problems and I’d discover that Dell did not recommend nor have drivers for the model of Dell asked about.
Did you check with Dell before you upgraded?

If you can’t beg borrow or steal another monitor to test with can you take your computer to a repair shop where they can test accurately with another monitor to ensure it is not monitor issues?

the computer came with windows seven on it and I have brought a windows seven disc and I am ready to install it but I just don’t no how to go about it. How would the monitor break and just randomly display half of the picture on the screen when it used to be fine I don’t understand? the screen still works..
Do I have to select boot from disk from the BIOS? because my next worry is that I cant open the disc on the computer atall so if I was to select the option boot from disc and then it was to not work would that mean my computer would not boot up ever again?
                    Thanks all.

Wrong or bad driver. Windows 10 updates all the time so you aren’t sure when a driver was replaced unless you study the update history.

                        Yes you do.

Make sure to go to the manufacture web site to Down Load the Drives and Chipset for YOUR system. Other wise nice door stop.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS to factory and same with the Monitor Settings?

Ahh that will be why this is happening then! stupid automatic updates.

haha nice door stop, I’m not really that smart with drivers and what they are or what I need and what they do lol would you be able to help me with a link at all ? I posted a picture of the details for my computer if that helps?

I haven’t tried resetting them back to factory settings no, I can try to do that with the monitor but I cant try to reset the BIOS to factory settings because I can only see half the the BIOS screen lol.

Drivers are the software that control the hardware (sound card, video,…) that is in the system. On the back of the Dell there is a sticker that says Services Tag you will need that number. Dell site
