Download the win 10 tool run it to recreate the flash drive โ Must be minimum 8GB Download Windows 10
It also as the instructions on how to create the drive.
If you cannot create the USB on windows 8 post back the error message you get.
If you can boot from the usb at the install screen choose the option to REPAIR.

It Must be a minimum of 8GB or it will not work.
You can use larger than 8GB BUT not smaller.
So step 1) is to buy or borrow an 8GB or larger flash drive.
If you cannot afford to buy one or borrow one then we are at a stand still.
Step 2) To fix that error message you have to edit the registry on the Windows 8 machine.
It is a simple enough step. However, it can be a daunting process.
Also making changes to the registry can harm the computer if mistakes are made.
That is why we would need to backup the registry first.
Do you have a friend or neighbour or relative with a windows 10 computer that could make the usb for you.
I do not know what country you are in. If USA something like this will work.
Hello and thank you. I downloaded the iso directly (by disguising the browser). I purchased a 64 GB flash. When I try drag and drop the iso into the flash, I get a prompt saying the iso โis too large for the destinationโฆโ
Hello again, please disregard previous. I reformatted to NTFS and the iso copied to the flash. Luckily Amazon delivered it same day and it was just $1 more than the 32 GB.
However, after choosing โremovable deviceโ in BIOS nothing happens. Could it be, the flash isnโt recognized because I formatted it on my Windows 8 PC?
yes, i see, all i did was copy. youโve been very generous with your time. so i installed rufus and burned, not copy, the iso to the flash. F10, selected my flash drive. Booted into the window you showed earlier (install now / repair). chose repair. system restore. โYou must always restore the drive that contains windowsโ and โyou must enable system protection of this drive.โ so i tried to install protection via command prompt: โthis app canโt run on this pc.โ
i fear the mother board or hard drive are damaged or corrupted. thank you for your time. by the way, i have a new pc coming Saturday. even if we were to repair my windows 10 pc, it never ran reliably.
No, I rescued them all by entering notepad from command prompt, then selecting folders and file one by one, and I forgot the the rest of the procedure, but I have every folder and file on an SSD. I guess youโre telling me I need to clean install?
A clean install would be best.
Have you checked the folders to see if you can read the data you took off?
You should try the Startup repair option after booting from the USB.
It might work as it should be trying to repair from the usb. Worth a try.
The other option is to do an install - not clean and it should put all you data into a separate folder.
If you do a clean install we would need to make sure we can get the drivers first.
What is the make, Model and serial number of the computer.
P.S.: Install (and keep filesโฆ) tells me โThis option is only available when a supported version of Windows is already running of this computer.โ Not one single repair function has run. Thinking something is just plain broken. Like I said, CHKDSK ran fine but scannow would not run.
This option is only available when a supported version of Windows is already running of this computer
Not sounding good.
Can you take a pic and attach?.
If yes
Run the usb again and go to command prompt under the repair option screen
At cmd
Type Diskpart and press enter
When dispart loads
Type List Vol press enter
Either take a pic and attach
OR
Write down what shows up
To exit diskpart
Type exit press enter
