Oh, a question. I unpacked and set up this ACER over a year after it arrived. I wanted to use it only for work programs to stay offline. But Windows updates were installed. But I would uninstall the ones that could be uninstalled. Could this have affected the PC performance?

Also, any suggestions on how to use a PC strictly offline. I guess I still have to accept updates?

Not if it is offline
All we need to do is check the device manager for any missing drivers.
Then just turn wi fi off and do not plug in a network cable.
It does not need to be updated once all drivers are installed.

Click on search and type in Device manager.
Open device manager
Do you see any Yello exclamation marks or red crosses.

No yellow exclamation marks or red crosses. And I expanded everything there.

In the beginning when I started using this PC, I could not figure out a way to block windows updates and just use the PC online. When I went to shutdown, there were little flags attached to “shutdown” and when I shut down, the updates would install before the PC shut down. I was not online! How do the bastards sneak in their updates?

I’d like to use my new PC (still boxed till I get this one going) strictly offline for music work.

Wait, wait, wait! I checked again. “Other Devices”–yes, every item in there has the exclamation and says drivers are not installed.

Continued… Under Other Devices, the following had exclamation points: Base System Device, PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processor Controller, PCI Memory Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, PCI SM Bus Controller.

Yes. I did. those other devices now replaced with chipset but exclamation, drivers not installed

Hi, I think I got it. Device manage: I scanned for hardware changes. eventually install Intel PCI chipset controller. No more exclamation points. System Devices now appears.

And I’m USA, mate.
