PC Restarts Only When Idle

My PC restarts only while idle, that means I can’t really do any activity which needs the computer in a low power/idle state like downloading large files and maybe installing big software. Methods I’ve tried:

[li]Memtest RAM - Ran for 8 hours no issues. Passed[/li][li]Tried to leave it on as another user - still restarted while idle[/li][/ul]
One thing to note is that booting it on safe mode with networking seems to get rid of the issue. I forgot what other details I should post but I’ll reply as soon as I can. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

OK try this as well … unplugging the USB peripherals as possible and then reboot and check to see how long the pc stays on at idle.

Yea try that with those 2 left plugged in.

Change your power performance from High performance to balanced.
High performance is for laptops and can cause instability in desktops.
Are you running MSI afterburner?
If yes disable/remove.
Do you need java ?
If not remove or remove for testing and reinstall after if you need it.
Does it happen if you only have 1 monitor connected?
Let’s see what happens with clean boot.

Watch your free space on drive C.
You are right at the minimum.
In your power are you set to hibernate?

Will try all those stuff over lunch as I’m currently getting some work done. Here’s the sequence for now:

[li]Try clean boot[/li][li]Normal boot with most USB devices unplugged[/li][li]Change High Performance power plan to balanced (I tried this before didn’t work)[/li]

1. [li]Disable MSI Afterburner[/li][li]Remove Java[/li][li]Only use 1 monitor[/li][/ol]

Also I don’t believe I have my power set to hibernate.

Update: Clean Boot doesn’t do it. Will be trying normal boot leaving only the mouse and keyboard plugged and other USB devices unplugged.

Pinched from @Pyro - please do this also.
Right click on the Windows logo in the bottom left and select Windows Powershell (Admin)
Run these three commands separately: press enter after each command

sfc /scannow

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

These will take a while to run, do not close out of Powershell while they are running, if one fails then move onto the next and then loop back around.

Note: It doesn’t hurt to make a system backup before you make all these changes, save any important files of folders. While these changes shouldn’t cause any issues, better to be safe than sorry.
