windows 10 pc unrecognised network error - can no longer get on internet

Pc has been working fine, no windows updates or any new installs since March 15 yet suddenly at around 11pm last night I can’t access the Internet.

I still have internet access on my phone and Xbox so the router is fine, the issue is the pc. Switched ethernet cables and tested them on my Xbox and they work fine.

I’ve watched dozens of videos on YouTube all pretty much suggest the same thing of going into network settings and changing the IP and DNS numbers, which I’ve tried a dozen times and got nowhere.

I’ve been at it for 6 or 7 hours now and I just give up. When I try to disable the Realtek the PC locks up. Any ideas what to do? I’m very close to just throwing it out of the window I’ve had it with like this just happening out of the blue!

      Modem and Router?
      Rebooted

      Ran any commands.
Used windows to reset the affected system network connection. (Not the computer just the network settings).
      Tried a different port.

      For Windows

      Go into Setting
      Select Network and Internet
Make sure you are under Status in the left
On the Right scroll down and select Network Reset
Read the information and then select Reset Now
Select Yes for the network to be reset and the system to reboot.
The rest before the system reboots may take a few minutes

How to reset via Command Prompt
      Open an Administrator Command Prompt
type (Copy and Paste) the following Commands and press Enter

[ICODE]ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns nbtstat -R nbtstat -RR netsh int reset all netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt netsh int ipv6 reset netsh int ipv4 reset netsh winsock reset catalog[/ICODE]

Reboot your computer and see if that helps at all.

Run the Following command and copy and paste the results in the next post from the affected system.

This will create a file on the desktop called ipconfig.txt
        ipconfig /all >"%userprofile%\desktop\ipconfig.txt

I can’t copy and paste. Im not using the affected pc to type messages on here as there’s no Internet connection. I’m using my phone.

is there a particular line or phrase within this text file that would be relevant as there’s no chance I can type it all out manually

hasn’t worked. when I wrote ipconfig /release I can’t go any further as it says β€œan error occurred while releasing interface ethernet : an address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint.”

I also tried the network reset and it didn’t fix it.

as stated, this is an issue with the PC, not the router. every other device I connect to the router both wired and wirelessly have no Internet issues

Have you checked the security setting for the router or the system?

Create a different user and see of that makes a difference.

Another thing to try is see if Live version of Linux can make a connection. If not, then there is a possibility of hardware failure.

By create a different user do you mean on the pc? If so, I already tried that yesterday. There’s already 3 different user profiles on the pc and they’re all unable to get onto the internet

With regards to security settings of router I have no idea how to do this?

Also don’t know what live version of Linux is.

I’ve just switched the ethernet cable from port 4 to port 2 and the status briefly changed to β€œnetwork - no Internet access”. I opened chrome browser and it couldn’t search the internet. A few moments later the status changed back to β€œunidentified network”

In the network and sharing settings, I tried to β€œset up a new connection or network” and it ends with the error message β€œconnection failed with error 651 the modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error”

It’s my windows 10 pc at home. No other pcs are connected by ethernet to the router. However I’ve just connected my old PC which was working fine the last time I used it, connected it to the router and I get the same issue with unrecognised network. So maybe the router is the problem despite it providing WiFi to all my other devices without any issues.

with regards to the motherboard I have no idea about the make and model and would have no idea how to find this out. I’m nowhere near as advanced at this as you guys so these kind of instructions will either have to be simplified or just ruled out as I don’t know this information and don’t know how I’d ever find it out
