    Permissions on my own PC

I understand that computers are designed with the idea in mind that most people are stupid. But it’s very frustrating for regular people who just want to use their computers like they used to. I can’t for the life of me figure out windows 10 and I don’t have time to sit around all day learning about it either. I have reloaded my operating system like 8 times now because regardless of what settings I choose in disabling automatic updates, it just decides to download them anyway. I’ve gone on youtube videos and looked up how to disable permissions but my own computer has more authority over itself than I do apparently.

The main problem is I can’t afford to by a new computer right now. I only have 100 gigs on my laptops SD card and every single time I reload my OS it just says β€œHey we downloaded windows 11 for you!”. It takes up like 20 gigs of space in addition to the windows 10 OS literally half of my space on my hard drive is gone now. When I look up videos how to delete windows 11 I don’t even have permission to view the files apparently. It’s not in the same location as all the other updates and when I search for my ENTIRE C drive it doesn’t show up. I am at a complete loss. I need help getting 100% permission over my own PC. If I mess it up I can just reload the operating system but I need to have some autonomy here.

    Reload windows 10.
Then use this soon as you do.

In Windows There is no option to turn off Windows Updates. Windows Update Blocker is a tool that helps you to disable or enable Updates.

Also, use O&O shutup ten. Run it with suggested and somewhat suggested settings.

With this tool you have full control over which comfort functions under Windows 10 and Windows 11 you wish to use, and you decide when the passing on of your data goes too far.

Also, load ublock origin on your machine, and install on all browsers.
uBlock Origin is not just an “ad blocker“, it's a wide-spectrum content blocker with CPU and memory efficiency as a primary feature. Developed by Raymond Hill.

thank you I will get these programs. In the meantime I would prefer not to reload my OS right now bc I don’t have a backup drive and I have important files. Is there anyway I can just delete windows 11? I am on 10 right now and it downloads it and keeps it waiting asking me to upgrade. Can I delete all these files?

I think you should be able to delete the files.

Here are a couple tools to help with that.

        Then install unlocker.

I would tackle this from a different angle.

get a bigger SSD, they are dirt cheap, and cheaper than buying a new laptop.
if you are going to reload the OS, may as well do it to a new drive.

I never had any luck trying to block Windows Updates, admittedly that was when they were first forced upon us, but any software or registry tweak never lasted long. they always started to come back eventually.

Win10 will stop being support October 2025.
why not get ahead of the curve and get Win11 now.
the differences between it and 10 are slight, with most of them being cosmetic.

that would free up some space but not address the issue of Win11 always downloading.
