Getting WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR with NVME drive, faulty disk or motherboard?

I have been having a lot of problems with my NVMe drive recently. Sometimes when I am using it, the drive crashes with the stop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and then promptly disappears from my bios when I open up boot menu. It takes a few power cycles for it to reappear. The drive in question is a Samsung EVO 970 1TB. I downloaded Samsung Magician but it says it cannot run a diagnostic - whenever I run the benchmark however it crashes a few seconds after I start it. CrystalDiskInfo says my disk is β€œgood”. There are no crash dumps for any of the blue screens. Recently I have also been getting a severe amount of crashes and it will also sometimes bring me to the screen where it says my boot manager is having an unexpected I/O error. It sounds like I just need a new drive, am I right on this assumption? Thanks.

I would suspect the drive is failing no matter what Crystal disk info says tbh.
    Try with this:

You could try an in-place repair of Windows:
Download the media creation tool, run this & choose to upgrade now.

That program reads no actions needed. Later today I will try reseating it and see if that fixes the problem.

I’m afraid if I try to reinstall windows and my PC crashes during that it may mess up my boot or something.

Won’t let me edit a post, but I have tried twice now to install the iso on another drive and once it finishes downloading and starts accessing the downloaded files to install on my second drive it crashes my pc with the same stop code

where did the ISO come from and how was the install media created?
Was it created on the system that is having the issue?

Did you disconnected the affected drive?

I got windows installed on a separate drive I have and I think I will replace the drive. The problem persists after reseating the nvme drive and it no longer blue screens when the drive fails, it just freezes and stops responding for a second.

The drive’s Health is 97% so should be fine.
Keep us updated on whether the replacement drive works well.

Got around to that reseat I mentioned earlier… turns out that fixed the problem by unscrewing it, brushing it off on my shirt, and putting it back in. Thanks for both of your guys’ help in this matter.
