    Audio not working at all

Hello, I’ve recently swapped motherboards on my gaming pc and the audio will not work no matter what I do.

I have tried everything from updating my audio drivers to editing the registry to no avail.

My new motherboard is Z390 Aorus Ultra

Did you install the chipset drivers for that new mobo?

you’ll find them on the mobo driver CD the mobo should have come with.
if not, get them from the manufacturers website.
the chipset drivers will be a exe file, just like the audio drivers.

OK, real dumb questions coming, but I got to ask to cross it off the list…

speakers are plugged into mains power, and turned on at the wall, at the board power, and at the speakers themselves?
                      speaker volume button turned up?
are speakers connected to PC via 3.5mm jack or USB?
if 3.5mm jack, they are plugged into the green back port.
yhave you tried the front audio port?
on the PC, sound is not muted?
                      have you tried headphones?

                      what is your OS?
in Control Panel, Device Manager, what is shown under Audio inputs and outputs, and under Sound, video and game controllers?

                          what is your OS?
do you have speakers you can test it with?

I would be right clicking each of those three entries under Sound, video and game controllers and uninstalling them. (tick the box to delete the drive too)
same as what’s under the Audio inputs and outputs.

reboot the PC and see what Windows reinstalls itself.
check Windows Updates and see what it finds.
                          now check the audio.

failing that, next I would uninstall them again, but before rebooting, use the mobo manufacturers drivers from the driver CD.

if still no luck, I’d do a repair install of Windows to put back to default settings whatever registry tweaks you have done.
