    Ad,
    Just to be clear - IE was 11.5mb, whilst most of the others listed were more ??
    So, as far as you can tell, there is no problem with the RAM??

    Please see attached log as requested.

      Sorry, just saw the Main user part, knew I should have just asked for a screenshot :whistle: would it be possible for you to grab one and upload it for us at some point.

      The RAM itself is fine but we cannot cannot confirm what voltage it is getting under load, you can do a basic check in the BIOS, the reading you are looking for is for DRAM and it should not be any more than 1.2V

      Couple of unexpected shut down notifications which we expected to see but there are also multiple instances of problems with the two items listed below;

      Faulting module name: zlib1.dll, version: 1.2.8.0, time stamp: 0x5190dfa0

      Description: The Digital Wave Update Service service terminated unexpectedly.

      Do you know what is and how Digital Wave got on your computer.

        Ad,

        Apologies - What do you need a screenshot of please??

        Checked DRAM in Bios - fluctuated a little but never more than 1.2V.

        Don’t know about zlib.dll, please see ( zlib.dll Windows process - What is it? )

        The Digital Wave Update Service is associated with Free Studio by DVD Videosoft, (I have parts of DVD Videosoft installed) please see ( app_updater.exe Windows process - What is it? )
        I suppose I could delete the process, which would mean no automatic updates (no big deal)

          Task Manager with the RAM and Processes tabs clicked as options if you would, please remember to give it a moment or two for things to settle down before taking the screenshot.

          I was fully aware of what both entries were but needed to be sure that you knew they were there, malware can get hidden in such compressed files, zlib.dll is one such an example and is often associated with bitcoin mining and Playstation software, in this instance it is probably related to the Digital Wave software, we will soon know once you have disabled the automatic updates which btw you should never have for anything other than Windows and your AV protection, automatic updates are one of the most surefire ways of getting things broke at some point when a bad update gets installed.

            Ad,

            I have deleted both of those files from DVD Videosoft file listing.

            Apologies - But how do I do as you have requested i.e. with the RAM and Processes tabs clicked as options - there is no tab for RAM) - please guide me.
            I know how to do a screenshot, but the listing is much longer than the screen.

                  No worries, we all have our off days as did I when thinking Windows was out of date :whistle:

                  Task Manager shows what is using so much RAM, Defender and IE being top of the list, nothing to worry about though as we can see that the higher than normal memory use is because you are using the integrated graphics which uses the system memory for support.

                  A replacement PSU should be all that is required then.

                    Ad,

                    If I went for a 600w PSU would this be OK?
                    If so, can you suggest some good ones?

                    If I bought on line, how can I be sure it would fit in the same place as existing. Surely they must come in different sizes?

                      Not having any add on video card you do not need anything near a 600W PSU so the extra cost would be a waste, a good 300W PSU if you could find one would cost as much as a good 500W unit so I would suggest you go for a 500W PSU as this will allow you to fit an up to mid range add on video card in the future, something like the example here you can get the 400W version for around Β£5 less.

                      Your present PSU is a generic ATX type so any replacement ATX will fit;

                      The OCZ dimensions are 5.9" x 5.5" x 3.34"

                      The Be Ouiet dimensions are;

                      Width 150 mm
                      Depth 140 mm
                      Height 86 mm

                        Ad,
                        Thanks for info.

                        Was β€œBe Quiet” a recommend or just an example?

                        Shut downs/Restarts obviously still occurring - seems to be about 20 seconds after turning on PC - after that all seems OK.

                          Be Quiet are a good brand, would normally suggest Corsair, EVGA or Seasonic but for what you need they are pricey and BQ are a reliable brand.

                          That behaviour sounds like a problem with the power good signal between the PSU and the MB.

                            Ad,

                            Thanks again for further info.
                            Seems pretty much like a PSU problem.

                            Can I just thank you very much for all your time and effort - been a pleasure dealing with you, as always.
                            I’ll come back to you some time in the future to let you know the situation - not sure when I’ll get a new PSU at the moment.

                            Once again - sincere thanks(y)

                                You might as well mark as solved.
