Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but 4GB of RAM is the max that your MB can handle which is what the scanner tool was telling you, Mr Memory also says 4GB max see info here

Noticed the following in your Speccy report.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: High performance

I suggest that you change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, High Performance is a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues.

Not worth it, new CPU, MB and RAM + a new Windows licence key would be required I`m afraid

Sorry but as per my reply #8 it is not worth it I`m afraid.

From your OP β€œI’ve just been given the gaming PC for Christmas”

I have been trying to let you down lightly being that the computer was a gift but you need to know that most of the hardware in the computer is obsolete and has been for years, the processor was released in 2008 and was discontinued many years ago, the GT710 is the most recently item of hardware as it was released back in 2016 and was not intended for gaming but for home theatres or media centres, all of this information is readily available via Google should you wish to confirm any of it for yourself, example EVGA GeForce GT 710 review

Best use for the computer as it is would be for a HTPC or for some low level gaming, if you wished to do anything more graphic intensive you would need to do a couple of things first, check the system requirements for any program or game that you would like to be able to run and upgrade both the video card and possibly the power supply to support any potential new video card.

Again, sorry that we cannot provide you with better news.
