    Windows 10 version 1903

I have the option as to whether to install 1903.

Having read several negative comments, should I install now or wait for a while?

the naysayers have something to say about all Win10 builds, hell, every Windows released really.
the only issue I had, which has now been fixed, was the first ISO image MS made for 1903 would not install off a USB stick, had to copy the files to the drive and run from there.

1903 is ok, the version that got a bad rap was 1809. I gotta say 1903 is quite impressive, the best yet. Just backup first before updating , and if you run system cleanup after the update youll clear over 20gb of junk.

from what source: DVD, USB stick?
how: from Windows Update or Microsoft Media Creation Tool?
            fresh or over-the-top install?

I have updated multiple Windows 10 1803 machines with update issues to 1903 successfully WITHOUT losing data by using this method, which should also repair whatever is wrong with your current update problem.

You will make a system image first though, wont you?

                  Hi Gus,

Hope all is well your end.

                  Couple of questions:
                  (1) Where do I download the Media Creation Tool/Download Tool? (Not exactly sure what it’s called)
                  (2) Is it good for Windows 10 Home?

BTW, Current version is 1809 (OS Build 17763.615

                      Gus,
Also forgot to mention that I created the system image to my spare internal sata hard drive (G)
Is this OK or have I done wrong?
Should it have been to an external hard drive? (Which I haven’t got by the way.

Seeing you don’t have an external drive I guess it’s all you can do. Ideally you should have a copy away from your PC, so perhaps consider getting an external drive, that way you could alternate between backing up to the internal and external drive. If you have a fire or your PC gets nicked you will have a copy to restore files from on another pc.

Sorry Roger, the link was on the youtube page but not the video. Here tis, and yes it’s good for 10 home

                          Gus,

All done and everything seems to be working OK.
Winver now shows as - 1903 (OS Build 18362.239)

Initially had a problem with Classic Start whereas Windows startup was taking priority, which meant that everytime I shut down and restarted Windows Startup was in use.
I uninstalled/reinstalled Classic Start and all is now fine.

Any chance of an idiot’s guide as to installing system image from SATA HDD should I ever need to?

Is it worth keeping the Download Tool for future use or does it change?

Doesn’t matter, just do a google search for download windows 10, making sure you only deal with the microsoft site. I would delete the tool.

I take it you mean β€œrestore” an image file?

                            2 questions
What backup software do you use?
for this scenario is Windows still working or has some other disaster meant there is no current working OS?

BTW isn’t classic start a Windows 8 application?

                              Gus,
Classic Start works fine with 10.(Don’t know about Win 8 application). Is there a better option?
I downloaded it from here http://classic-start.findmysoft.com/

Did system image from within Windows and it is on my spare HDD.
Don’t know how to restore if I needed to.
Perhaps I need to start over again!!!
