A quick look at your ScanRapide log and things seem to be fairly in order. Let us know when you are able to grab a audio cable and try it out.

Sure, but I buy stuff like that cable on eBay and I won’t have it for a few days.

BTW, Quick Diag Scan crashed after about a third done with an OS error β€œError allocating memory”.

Getting back to stuff, I appreciate my browsers’ cookies, history and cache and find all of them useful from time to time. I know that ad-blocking is possible but I am not ferociously avid about that. MANY THANKS THOUGH!!!

        Nevermind that scanner.

Just figured you may want to tidy things up a bit while you were here. Have a good day and let us know how things work out.

Though QuickDiag Scan crashed it left a log of 188kb. I’ll assume I need not post it for your perusal.

Speaking of hijacking, I just now noticed that CCleaner made itself my default browser and client for opening PDFs, and who knows what else. I intend to revert those. 'Not sure why CCleaner is better, yet free. It’s abhorrent perhaps but ignorance is bliss.

Strange, I have never heard of it doing anything like that. CCleaner isn’t even a browser, nor does it have anything to do with a PDF. What browser is it?

No, I was going to use that log to clean up junk from your machine but you declined the offer, so there is no need. I just think that your machine is a bit to old to remedy the DP issue, since the support site does not provide drivers for windows 10.

Yep! ..it’s a fully capable browser with (apparently) special privacy and security functionality, plus I notice it can download videos for you (I presume videos that otherwise are not rigged for user download). I haven’t explored it greatly and may not but it is a browser and it’s a separate entry on my Start menu apart from CCleaner itself. The About text from the browser says:
                CCleaner Browser

CCleaner Browser is up to date
                Version 75.0.74.83 (Official Build) (32-bit)

Strange, I apologize about that I have not updated my version of Cleaner in while. There are other tools to manage startups.

Here are some of the best startup managers for your Windows PC that act as perfect replacements for the default startup manager.

And you can clean up temp files with another tool as well.

Thanks for the tip; I just love freeware and rely on it heavily. But I intend to keep CCleaner on my system, though I have already reverted the filetype handling which it sneakily claimed. 'Turns out it was only those HTM, HTML and PDF which I had first spotted - none else.

Major update! Someone had steered me wrong over at Dell but I am certainly at fault as well. The in/out ports on my monitor are not RCA but simply 3.5mm stereo standard!! Loss of one stereo channel is a non-issue! I rummaged around in my basement and came up with the appropriate male-to-male cable and hooked it up and voila, stereo sound emits from my monitor’s built-in speakers. The quality kinda stinks so I may just continue using my higher-end detached speakers even though they do have a considerable footprint.

I thank everyone so very very much. This issue can now be presumed closed.

Thanks a lot for letting us know. So many people just bail when their issue is solved, slightly irritating. Marked as solved and closed.
