    Screen resolution problem

Hi all my screen turns off when I leave it for a while for power saving and I left my computer alone for a while and the screen powered down as usual but this time after moving my mouse and the screen came back on the resolution was all messed up and I checked the settings and the resolution hadn’t changed and it was still on the recommended setting, I have tried to change the resolution to a different one and then back to my normal one and still no luck I have updated drivers and restarted the PC and the resolution is still messed up, any ideas to why this has happened and how to get my screen back to normal?
I have uploaded a picture so you can all see the problem, looking at the picture I have uploaded you cant really see the problem but the screen is pushed up and cuts off parts of everything you open and there is a big black line at the bottom of the display and everything is a lot bigger then it should be.
    Thank you all.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

        Hi Kane, Welcome to PCHF!

Based on that picture it looks like you are using an 800 X 600 resolution for some reason. Try adjusting the size of all display elements back to a lower percentage using this link, How to make text, apps, and other items bigger or smaller in Windows 10. Follow the instructions under the resize everything section and see if there is any improvement.

Thank you for getting back to me and the display is in 1280x1024 because that’s the only display the fits my screen okayish at the moment it still chops of the bottom of the taskbar under this resolution and still displays terrible quality my PC lately has been running SUPER slow too taking ages to load up anything and it lags all the time.
here is my url for β€œspeccy” http://speccy.piriform.com/results/n...TFbWJJ1oggVwcV .
          Thank again.

Hope you don’t mind me butting in here but that version of Speccy is soooo old, suggest you update it, hopefully that is the reason its showing your OS as Windows 7, and not 10 as per your picture in your first post?

Speccy shows that Windows auto-update is not configured.

Only other thing that I am seeing in Speccy is that you have high memory usage, use resource Monitor to see if it highlights anything hogging the memory (I have a feeling it may be the integrated video chip).

Press Windows +R, type Resmon.exe in the Open text box then press Enter > in the Resource Monitor user interface select the Memory tab then check under Processes to identify the biggest users of the memory and get back to us.

Here’s a picture showing the processes because I don’t really know what I’m looking at with this lol, and as for which fan has stopped working I’m really not sure what one has stopped working I just know I used to hear a constant quite fan in the pc and now I don’t hear one at all.
my pc when I go to shut down all ways say’s β€œupdate and shutdown” and when I click it it just shuts down without updating.

Edge is the culprit, would suggest that you use Chrome as your default browser and unpin Edge from the task bar, cant stand either Edge or Cortana tbh

                        If you check your Windows update history you will see the following;
                        23-Nov-17 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display - 7/25/2017 12:00:00 AM - 22.19.128.0
Create a new system restore point then go back in to the Windows update history, uninstall the above update, test and then get back to us.

Did you check for that AMD update.

Click on Cortana and then choose the Hide option.

Edge cannot be uninstalled only disabled, download Chrome and make that your default browser.

It seems like Microsoft has now been cutting off support for user’s with older hardware. See this link, PSA: Those with ATI HD4000 series or older Graphics using Windows 10 1607 or older, incoming problems.
