    Yes as you have two issues going on, overheating and driver conflicts, when not under any load the computer will run for longer but as soon as anything that requires graphics intensive use the computer gets hotter + the drivers conflict.

    Below is some info from your crash on Thursday, drivers I have highlighted in green are good, drivers in red are bad, the Nvidea drivers need to be gotten rid of and the
    EhStorClass drivers updated, I would also make sure that Hibernation was disabled, known to cause problems and more trouble than it is worth;

    Open the Win+X menu, and click/tap on Command Prompt (Admin)
    In the elevated command prompt type powercfg -h off press Enter and you are done.

    The cause

      About to try steps 1 to 9. Shall try the powercfg after that. Unsure how one gets rid of specific drivers or update EhStorClass ones. I could try to find the files on the drive and simply delete them I suppose. But first things first.

        Got to head out for the afternoon shortly, will try and check back later but if unable to will be around early am tomorrow.

        To check for out of date drivers see below, chipset and storage device drivers are a priority, if unsure please wait and post in your next reply what driver updates if any are suggested;

        Run SlimDrivers (free) from here, allow the program to scan your computer to check for any missing or out of date drivers.

        Remember to always create a new restore point before updating any drivers.

        Please note that I am not suggesting that you use any other product or service that may be offered at the link and be sure to uncheck the SlimCleaner free download box.

          Ok thanks.

          High performance already chosen.
          Link state power management already off.
          Power management mode was optimal power, now set to prefer maximum performance.
          There are various ways of starting the game, including the necessity of running origin and starting via that. Checking the shortcuts on bar and desktop: the only disable option I see is for “display scaling” not “desktop composition” There is a compatibility mode option but that is left unticked.
          I think I may have covered this ground to some extent when I was getting similar problems in Windows 7.

          No updates found Your system has the latest stable drivers and updates installed.
          Oh well… should be a good thing really.

            Ok, a short synopsis of what I’ve just tried. Maybe one can help/make suggestions, even though it’s hardware related.

            Bit the bullet and removed the heatsink/fan that’s been in use since the PC was made. decided to leave the lead connected for a whle so I knew which plug on the motherboard was the correct one. Scraped off s much thermal rock hard gunk as I could, wiped over the top of the processor with a paper towel dipped in white spirit. Got it as clean as I could. Then put the thermaltake that came with it (probably a bit old now but it seemed to squirt out ok) and put the Frio cooler in place. Wasn’t clear whether the fans should point to the sides or up and down as it fitted in both orientations, so I chose up and down. Screwed up the round “nuts” on the other side as tight as I could.

            Then tried to get the old lead off the motherboard and it was a pig of a job. Not only was there minimal room between the Frio and the power supply it also seemed clamped somehow. Eventually, with the help of a screwdriver it came off, revealing a 4 pin p[lug. A little offputting as the Frio sockets were 3 pin; but I decided it had to be the lower 3 pins or the key would stop it getting on. Another pig of a job trying to get it and my fingers is the limited space, in the right orientation to get it on, but it went eventually.

            Then I realise only one of the two fans was turning and checking, yes I’d forgotten, each fan has it’s own cable so I needed another plug on the motherboard, and can’t spot a free one.

            Can one get two into one connectors for these sorts of leads ? Edit Ok I see Maplin has them. But I won’t be near one for about 8/9 days. No urgency, I hope.

            The PC is back up for a test and I’m here, so I shall update further when I know whether it has improved things any.

            Ah, and another BSOD. CPU temperatures seem down a bit, but still flame icons in Speedfan. GPU seems up. But of course it all depends on when one looks. Still seems rather hot to me but there again I’m used to it always looking hot.

              Not the method or cleaning agent that should be used for cleaning off thermal compound, scraping can mark the surface of the CPU and heatsink which reduces the cooling effect of the components and thermal compound while white spirit is oil based and leaves a residue behind that also reduces the cooling properties of the thermal compound.

              If not using a cleaning fluid such as ArtiClean then 99% Isopropyl Alcohol/rubbing alcohol is recommended, methylated spirits can also be used as can acetone based nail varnish remover but care must be taken to keep the latter away from anything plastic.

              I note in your reply #46 that you have Speccy installed, can you run it and post the url for us.

              Regarding the second CPU cooling fan connection, use one of the 3 pin chassis fan headers on the MB, I have highlighted the MBs fan headers in the attachment below;

                Ah, was just using what I had to hand. I’d have to go out to buy specific stuff which looks unlikely for a bit (loads of domestic chores to do today as expecting company tomorrow & Monday). I could check for meths later, but I don’t think I have any. Interesting, my version of Speccy opens up it’s own window v1.30.370 (64bit). How do you get it on the Net, or does that need the pro version ? Edit: just seen the publish snapshot thing. I’ll give it a go. … http://speccy.piriform.com/results/6...Y5zWoLt5zQ8Abd

                (As an aside I spotted its test drive bit recently; my main drive is fine but the one holding old (probably no longer required) back-ups has zero % (!) “fitness”. Bit of a shock really.)

                Ah yes, I did look for fan power points.
                cpu fan is the one being used for one of the cpu fans and for which I need the splitter.
                pwr and fan1 1 are powering fans on the base of the case (a Firestone FT02)
                fan 2 is powering the fan on the back panel (well top panel in reality)
                fan 3 is difficult to spot under the graphics card, but looks as if it is powering the third fan on the base of the case

                    Ah that’s dropped the temperatures a little more. Sometimes when one’s mind is fixated on techy issues/solutions one forgets the obvious. Just had a look (and vacuum) of the 3 mesh filters one can pull out from the 3 base fans !

                      Wow, that took some going backwards and forwards

                      Temps are already looking better in Speccy but the CPU being 48 °C when almost idle is still too hot.

                      See if you are able to download and install the 64-bit Windows 10 Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver for your system, see here

                      There are a couple of things to bring to your attention (the multiple installations of NVIDIA - Display - 12/29/2016 12:00:00 AM - 21.21.13.7653 asides)

                      Running: SAMSUNG Mobile Connectivity Service You mentioned this, have you ever connected a Samsung phone to your computer at all.

                      Running: TeamViewer 12 Never use it myself and would most certainly not leave it running, as to why explained here

                      Memory You have two different specs of RAM, 800MHz 1.350 V and 667 MHz 1.5V, both speeds are fine but your MBs QVL that lists the compatible RAM suggests that 1.35V RAM is not supported, list here

                        Wow, thanks for all that !

                        There seems to be a choose of downloads for the raid driver. Is it f6flpy-x64.zip you are advising I install ?
                        Have changed to “balanced”.
                        Unsure what to do about multiple -Display installations. If I look to uninstall a program I see only 5 things that start NVIDIA and none have display in the name. What should I do about them ?
                        I guess the same can be said for NVIDIA Display Container LS.
                        Yes, I connect the Samsung phone from time to time. I have their Kies programme which I use for backup and general checking of things. It need not run all the time but I guess whatever SAMSUNG Mobile Connectivity Service does it needs to be on at start up ?
                        TeamViewer was deliberately installed and left on. It not only allows me to take control of my woman’s PC when she is having problems and wants me to see if I can help out, it is also useful if I drive down to hers and realise I’ve forgotten some data (usually the flash drive) and I can simply make the contact and download what I wanted to take. I believed it was secure, there seems to be disagreement on that thread. If there was a better free product that did the job I’d consider using that instead, but for now it is useful.
                        I hadn’t realised that the RAM was incorrect; I tend to use the apps on the seller’s website to advise on the correct ones. Is it likely to be a large issue if they are left ? They seem to have been ok so far unless it is the cause of the issues that is. And the last expansion was some time ago. And having checked, the suspect ones are the original modules I bought after a long e-mail discussion with a MrMemory salesman. So I guess they seem to have worked ok. The Crucial ones are newer and I got them simply to maximise the possible memory for maximum operation/response/whatever.
                        As mentioned above, I spotted the second drive had 0% fitness, which was a surprise to me. Issues with current pending sector count and uncorrectable sector count, apparently. I may run some disk checking software over it later if I can find the boot CD I have somewhere, however the stuff on that drive is mainly recovered data from a hard drive of a past PC and has limited value now. Not a big deal but good to know there’s something to check.
                        Again, unsure how to tackle the sound card issue. On this PC I have no sound card plugged in, so it would be all motherboard hardware. Again, may I ask what I should do with the information ?

                        Cheers.

                          IRST driver here an earlier date but I suspect only because the later download has been altered in some way.

                          Uninstall everything that is identified as Nvidea software.

                          So you now know why you have Samsung updates on your computer.

                          TeamViewer totally your choice but I would suggest shutting it down when you know you are not going to use it, much safer that way.

                          The RAM we will come back to at some point as it will be time consuming to test.

                          For checking the HDD see below;

                          RE the Nvidea audio, your MB has an integrated Realtek audio chip which is your sound card and the Nvidea drivers are surplus to requirements.

                          Check the HDD with CrystalDiskInfo 7.0.0 Standard Edition which you can download from here once done grab a screenshot (possibly two) of the results and attach to your next reply for us.

                          To capture and post a screenshot;

                          Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start…all programs…accessories…paint…left click in the white area …press CTRL + V…click on file…click on save…save it to your desktop…name it something related to the screen your capturing… BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG …otherwise it may be to big to upload… Click on the Upload a File tab then after typing in any response you have… click on Post Reply like you normally would.

                          Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

                            Time to cut the lawn; but I’ll be back soon to try things out. Meanwhile the page you link to looks similar to the one I went to last time. I’ll assume it is the f6flpy-x64.zip at the top of the list.
                            Didn’t mind the Samsung one, it was just that it’s update joined the Nokia one I was ignoring. But downloaded and installed all that now.
                            Ah if I could remember to turn on TeamViewer without fail every time I went to my woman’s place I’d be able to remember to take the flash drive instead
                            I’ll try your CrystalDiskInfo advice. I have a version of Spinrite around somewhere, if I could find it.

                            Ah I’m unsure what I am to do with .inf .cat & .sys files. I’ll try downloading the seuprst,exe file instead. Oh, platform not supported.

                            Ah, uninstalling anything NVIDIA has left me with just one of my two screens driven, and a much coarser resolution. Do I run the Zotac driver install again ? They were never meant to uninstall.

                            BTW CPU temperatures running in the low 30s with just one screen and no game running !

                              f6flpy-x64.zip is the download that you need.

                              HDD does look to have problems and would suggest you keep a check on the Threshold readings to see if they get any worse.

                              Aye try reinstalling the Zotac drivers please, if they happen to be the stock Nvidea drivers in any event manually install just the graphics drivers, test, see how it goes and then try installing the PHYSX drivers and again test to see how it goes.

                              I may be a bit scarce on Sunday but will check in at some point in the day.

                                Thanks for the file confirmation, but I don’t know what to do with the .inf .cat & .sys files it contains. Do I just extract them somewhere ? As mentioned I tried the .exe file from the same file list, assuming it held the same data, and it merely refused to install stating that the platform wasn’t supported.

                                I have found and been running spinrite overnight and it was about half way through this morning. Not spotted an error yet. I assume it checks wherever these errors are occurring.

                                I’ll do the Zotac install immediately, as the single screen low res is rather irksome.

                                As mentioned I expect visitors later today so there will be a point my PC attention and visits here will become rarer, and even more so tomorrow. But I’ll still be looking in when I can.

                                Ah, ok, bit of a problem. May be able to figure it out but. I try to run the Zotac setip,exe file and suddenly I get a message that it can not access the specified device…may not have appropriate permissions. Not had that before.

                                Re-extracted the files from the zip file into a different directory, seems to be installing now. But something has obviously changed with the other original. Suggestions on how to fix that would be very welcome.
