To small of a drive you should be using at least a 32 GB.
From the Linix Mint site for Linux Mint Mate 17.3
System requirements:
[ul]
[li]512MB RAM (1GB recommended for a comfortable usage).[/li][li]9GB of disk space (20GB recommended).[/li][li]Graphics card capable of 800Γ600 resolution (1024Γ768 recommended).[/li][li]DVD drive or USB port.[/li][/ul]
As you can see that the 8 GB USB drive you are using is to small.
Something else you could do is make a 32 GB partition on the HDD and install Linux there.
I will get a larger USB at WalMart, that probably wont b for a few weeks. But for now i will mark this post as solved. Thank You for helping me. Thank,s Chuck
