I want to change my monitor refresh rate from device manager, but my pc is not recognized so it says generic pnp(plug and play) monitor. The problem with this is that the refresh rate goes up to 60 on my 144 MHz monitor. My gpu drivers are up to date, and my monitor doesn’t have drivers on the website. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. What can I do to fix this? Please help

In Windows,most of the time the OS will say generic monitor.. Also the standard refresh rate is 60 mhz. Just to make clear what are you wanting with the refesh rate?

I have a 144hz monitor, but when I go to device manager to change my refresh rate I am limited to 60hz. I don’t know if this matters, but I was using a tv as a display before this. Monitor. Thank you

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.
To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:
In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
All Windows means by generic plug n play monitors is that no additional drivers are required for the monitor to be able to work, if your monitor is capable of 144 MHz chances are that it is something to do with the GPU or the cable as to why you cannot manually adjust the setting.
