i have had this issue for nearly a whole month, when using my laptop, all windows apps (ex: task bar, start menu, alt+tab, settings, task manager) suddenly stop responding and the only way i could get them to unfreeze is to ctrl+alt+del but the issue returns again shortly after. though i have noticed this issue seems to almost never happen when I'm using the laptop's built in display. all my drivers are also up to date if that matters.

things i have tried that didn't work include:
-restarting the device
-sfc /scannow command
-reinstalling and re-registering all windows apps via a command
-uninstalling display adapters and redownloading them on device manager
 
You need to post the required url and not the txt, the url does not contain any personal data unlike the txt which among other things contains your Windows product key and thieves just love coming across such information.

When you next post, do not click on the Reply tab first, enter any info into the dialogue input box and when you are done just click on Post Reply like you have been doing, this will avoid you quoting every reply.

When you want to do anything graphic intensive, gaming or watching videos etc you must change the Windows Power Plan to High Performance or your discrete GPU will not get enough power to be able to function and the notebook will revert back to using the video provided by the CPU.
 
my laptop doesn't have other power plans when i go to control panel, its only balanced. i tried using a cmd line to try and retore them but it didnt seem to do anything.
 
It will sort any video problems that you were having but it will not undo any software changes that you made.
 
nope, the issue still persists, is there any other possible solutions besides reinstalling windows?
 
Download then run the Windows All in One Repair tool ( Free ) from here, disregard the malware guidance but follow the other steps to the letter and in particular ensuring that you first create a new restore point and perform a proper Windows clean boot before running the repair, details for the clean boot here.

The tool is Windows 11 compatible.
 
quick question, is this gonna delete any of my files? or possibly break my system if something goes wrong?
 
Quick answer, no.

It would hardly be responsible for any forum to go suggesting things that can cause such an outcome.

Last but not least, don`t do anything that you are not comfortable with and anything that you have not already got securely backed up elsewhere is stuff that you do not truly value.
 
You are out of options then.

Back up your data and then do a Windows reset, you can try the option of keeping all your data first but if that does not work you will have to use the keep nothing option.

Just a fyi, the above is the easiest option but if me I would save all the HP drivers to a small capacity flashdrive, download and save to a 16GB flashdive a free Windows 11 ISO and then clean install both so as to get rid of all the HP bloatware that the notebook is bundled with.
 
is it possible for a future update to resolve this issue at some point? windows reset is my last resort and id rather avoid it if i can.
 
Possible but only if the issue was caused by a buggy update but yours is the only issue I personally have seen on any of the forums that I frequent.

Post a new Speccy url for us so we can see what Windows updates you have installed.
 
Got a lot to add but the forum is playing up and won`t let me post it all at once so we need to do a bit at a time :(

The fact that it does not happen all the time would normally suggest that it was not a Windows issue but here were two big Microsoft updates installed on the 9th of this month.

Too late now but for future reference, never update or make any changes before creating a new system restore point first, they are not infallible but they can get you out of a hole if an update causes problems.

Change both settings to Never else the computer will go asleep when you momentarily get distracted.

Missed it first time but get get rid of this snake oil, apart from such programs being crap you don't need it as all your drivers 100% must come from HP and once those drivers have been correctly installed you leave well alone, see my canned explanation below;

Once Windows has been installed, you install the necessary drivers for the MB and other hardware and then leave well alone, drivers should not be allowed to auto update and you should never update any driver/s unless the new drivers are intended to resolve a specific issue that you are having, installing new drivers unnecessarily can actually cause you the very issues that any new drivers are intended to resolve and uninstalling the new drivers may not resolve the problem/s that installing the new drivers has caused.

Depending on priority it can take many months before the driver provider releases any fix and depending on the age of the hardware or software concerned they sometimes do not even bother or may have already announced an end of support.

The exact same policy applies to the BIOS, do not update it unless it is advised by the manufacturer of the hardware or alternatively if it is to allow for a CPU upgrade.

Updating things for no reason has a 50/50 chance of bricking your computer, don`t gamble unless you can (A) Do without the computer (B) have loads of spare cash and can buy a new one with no problem or (C) Both of the previous.
