Hi crackerjack :)

I analyzed your dump file :) The BSOD was caused by Bitdefender.

One fix you can try is to go to Boot into Safe Mode and go to Run. Type regedit and click Enter. Navigate to:

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bdselfpr

and click the ImagePath key. If it says something like
Code:
\\??\C:\
remove the \\??\ part.

Also make sure Bitdefender is fully up-to-date :)

If everything checks out, Bitdefender is up-to-date, and the registry key looks correct, I would highly recommend a fresh install of Windows as Mal suggested. It'll save so much headache in the future and will give you a clean slate to start from :)

Many thanksfor your patience and assistance friends!
I WILL CARRY OUT THE PROCEDURES AS INSTRUCTED BY YOU EXPERTS !

But a question from a thickie first
Back in the days of xp -I had a similar problem with Bullguard AV that was snarling up a programme installation -Iwould assume similar to what is happening with B D
(YOU CAN STOP ME AT ANY POINT WHEN YOUVE FINISHED LAUGHING AT THIS PC THICKIES QUESTION!!!!!!)

The solution then I found was to System Restore prior to the Bukkguard installation / do a thorough fullclean up /disconnect from the net / and then install my sware (photographic sw package from disk
Then reconnect to internet and load latest Bullguard again from the site link

You havent suggested or hinted atb something similar and (just for my information and a bit more PC knoewledge ) wondered why
If BD isthe culprit --then forget it and use another respected and genuine AV loaded afterwards instead
Just Wondering! ! Your explanation on the mereits /snags of this probably worthless idea welcomed
Cheers Crackers

That shows that the Hard Drive is ok would still suggest a fresh install.

Appears to the same thing happening here.

There are only two that I would suggest some one use that are free.

has there been bad reviews of B D RUSTYS??
ALSO re the bsod possible solution - as I`m yet to use win10 regularly -I gather the F8 function for safe mode doesnt function --so based on the site advice --how do i get into safe mode and the reg edit screen to carry out an examination of B DEFENDER problem as suggested .

Then as you say -weve exhausted all possibilities - and its crunch time eh!!!
However I really appreciate your efforts -and at the moment -repeat- wish I`d stayed on win 7 pro!!

Here are the steps to access Safe Mode form with in Windows 10. Sure do not make it easy.

Click Start
Click Settings
Click on Update and Security
On the left Select Restore
On the Left under Advanced Startup Click Restart Now
Select Troubleshoot
Select Advanced Options
Select Startup Settings
Click Restart
Select the corresponding Number for the selection you desire.

Going by what you have asked and stated.

..........And if I then got a glitch loading that again similar to what's taken all your team's time and effort I'd be beating a hasty retreat!!![emoji39] Will persevere a little longer eh and hope for the best ! Based on previous post to be serious what if fully deep clean off B D and try a repair on win10.Would I NEED to be on line nprotected

Sorry was trying to say -a bit risky otherwise but meant try repair without from the ISO disk now it's basically working fine but for slow startup after all you've helped tweak to date? Just a thought friends!

Hey fellas --have just discovered something that confuses me -and may throw some light on problem all along ........?
Having carried out the process suggested in SAFE MODE above, I went to change back into NORMAL mode via System Configuration #
In "startup" it says selective startup and though I check "normaL" it keeps reverting back
Also if I go to BOOT tab it reads :-
Windows 7 (C:\Windows) default O. S.
Surely this will be confusing the PC and causing delay at startup -the problem we have been facing??
Or as usual am I talking out my .............******? head

One final Question and I`ll leave you alone!!!
A colleague has mentioned a sware package which helped a friend of a friend etc etc etc ----neosmart easy recovery essentials
Thoughts / comments ???

OK friends --now weve got a teazer -and I`m using tablet and at the moment -not touching a thing till Ive heard from you
By coincidence we had a power cut and when supply was reinstated I received a message that pc did not shut down properly and would restart in???seconds
Did I wish to use 1.WINDOWS 7 (???) OR 2 . An earlier version of Windows
I allowed it to proceed automatically -and it started --and was running with WIN10 screen and functions
All this occurred after carrying out the safemode adjustments as requested and then reverting to normal Win10 o s I have throughout your topic advice created privazer restore points
But what confuses me is the lack of reference to win 10 -only win 7 -yet other than slow boot time it has been running fine in Win 10 mode
I will wait for your comments before touching it further --at moment in the win 10 screen Iput it in sleepmode
cheers fellas Crackerjack

as not heard from you -carried on regardless Put iso downloadon usb stick and did repair reinstall
message that file missing and remove A V (already had -Bitdefender )

But did deep clena and repeated repair install from USB stick and it worked!
Then I had fingers crossed - but ewhen I switched on took 22mins again
Then when running I got orange screen and message "handling updates
That took about an HOUR - Then I got blue screen
So I switched off and on again and did SYSTEM RESTORE to before updates loaded
and guess what it ran fine again !
switched off and nextime on I had the Windows security programme on --and then it started "critical updates" and then aaaaaaagh guess what --------22 mins boot time

SO - DID SYSTEM RESTORE -and went offline -and at moment works fine but not connected tonet -just working on it -docs / spreadsheets / drawings etc

but can anyone tell me why they thrust updates / critical updates on us that cobble it up!!
I fear at moment if i switch off and reconnect and switch on Ill get another bloody update that causes 22min boot
or
missing file message because of a virus
or

the good old blue screen error message

good old microsoft

oh and PS it stopped my Epson printer connecting to home network
So at moment - my wife has to email me docs(but cant cos I aint online) and then I can print them out for her as my PC is on a stand alone connection

What a farce!

You would do yourself a great service by installing a fresh copy of Windows 10, which you are entitled to do. Upgrading is often fraught with stories such as yours. See HERE for how to get the latest ISO.

I fully accept your viewpoint and domt want to sound ungrateful for all your help
Its just that now -after a lot of "messing around" I have a PC thats working (and now back online ) and if I leave in sleep mode overnight -ONLY (dont laugh ) takes about 2mins to start up (thats infinitely better than 22mins eh?)
I would need to reinstall all sware if I carried out a clean install and this would include office and two engineering and cad progs -all dongol -crypkey protected Theres the time involved / the risk they have problems then loading onto win 10 and If these go *****shaped its the cost of a new key to run them Frankly fellas I dont think its worth the risk Best wait till I get a new PC and tackle it the ONCE
I know if I ever see Microsoft dangling a new upgrade in future to Win12 or whatever ................... yeah!
Wish it ********miles away!
So for now mark it solved and Ill leave it be!
Many thanks or your patience and efforts -but no bouquets to MS you can be assured!!
