Hey everyone, my wife is having a hard time with her headset lately and as it is needed for work, I'm hoping someone more intelligent than I in this matter can help. As the title implies, whenever she uses her microphone on an app like Discord or the one she uses to take her work calls over VoIP, the other person or people can occasionally hear a loud whine, buzz, or hum. These bursts can last for but a split second or for 5-10 seconds and seems completely random.
I tried doing some research on the issue myself and have read things pertaining to grounding, electromagnetic interference, feedback, etc. I don't really know which of these issues is actually the issue, and I'm hoping that by maybe providing more specifics on the issue, someone can help me pinpoint what needs to be done.
My wife uses a Logitech H600 headset and has for well over a year without any issue. It's been used on three different computers, one of which is a laptop, without any problems. She is 7 months pregnant and needs to continue her work from bed. I've moved her desktop to a rolling desk that slides over the bed. Now the headset wasn't having problems for the first month or so of this new setup, but when it started, she was forced to use my gaming headset (Logitech G9xx, I forget exact model number) to finish her work day. This headset worked fine and still does. Assuming maybe the headset was old, we purchased another one. She really liked that particular model, so we bought the same one again from Staples. This one seems to have the same problem, but only from her setup. If I plug in the headset into either my laptop or my desktop, it works fine. So I assume it is an issue with the desktop that has recently begun being a problem.
What might cause this issue to start sporadically, and why doesn't it affect my other headset when used in the same PC? I've tried changing the USB ports, too, to see if it was a port issue. I've double checked, and all drivers are up to date. Let me know if there are any other details I should share to help narrow it down.
