Downloaded drivers and the program Kies that you got with the download. Nothing happens though. Uninstalled ALL my USB devices, turned off the pc, then plugged in my phone and started the Kies program and tried to "emergency recover" the phone like the program suggested, but it's impossible because the phone won't even show up.
In device manager I can't even see "Portable Devices"...
I can't see any red or yellow X in device manager either.

I watched that youtube video a couple of days ago but I don't have the same options as he do in the video. The "Portable Devices" for example.

I have tried so many fixes. It has to be my phone though right? I didn't work on my friends pc either...

While in the Device Manager lets see if this shows it.
Select View and then select Show Hidden Devices

It that your phone listed under the USB list in post # 21?

Yep, that's my phone! # 21 with the warning icon next to it.
I click on hidden devices and I can see some new devices but they don't do anything. I have tried reinstalling them and uninstalling them several times.

Are you logged into you phone after you have connected it?
My tablet will not allow me to access anything unless it is unlocked.

Since it is try following the video from doing the install drivers manually see if that helps. from post #17

When you tried it on your friends system did you install the Samsung USB Drivers?

Download the drivers for Windows here
https://samsungsupportdrivers.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-drivers-download/

Several sites were listed but I'd only trust drivers from Samsung and not other sites.

Also, don't allow Windows 10 to update drivers.
That may have been the reason it did not work on your friends system.

I have a Samsung phone and tablet. I have never downloaded nor installed the Kies program anywhere. My phone and tablet are recognized on Windows 7 and XP computers. I don't have 8.8 nor 10 to test.

I have tried many different samsung drivers available there.
You should have exactly one driver, the one for Windows 10 either 32 bit or 64 bit, whatever your computer is.
Remove all the drivers not needed because that can be causing issues.

(although it says 7, this is for 8.1 and 10 also)

Thanks. I found a lot of old drivers that were greyed out. I have uninstalled every one I think. How should I proceed now? I tried to plug in my phone once again and reinstalled the driver but nothing happens still. It felt good to remove all those hidden drivers though.

Is it safe to remove all the greyed out drivers? Let me give you a link. There are some microsoft drivers there which I'm unsure of...
And also, what's up with my mouse drivers? I constantly have 2 drivers there and if I uninstall one it just appears again after a while. It's the same with my keyboard.

I don't have much backed up. I want to save all my photos. That's it. How do I back up all my photos if I can't transfer them to a pc? It's a lot of photos...

Do you have Google Drive?

Do you have Photos and are your photos accessed from there?

For this you will want to be connected to WiFi through you phone.
If yes then press and hold one of the pictures until it is selected then select a few more (do a few at a time)
On the top you should see a < symbol on the top click that and select

Save to Drive

Once completed open a browser on your computer and log into you google account and open Google Drive and see if the photos are copying.

I'm currently backing up all my photos to Google Drive. When I'm done I can do more drastic stuff for this problem to get solved. I'm going to post again when I'm done!
Thanks for all the help so far, really appreciate it.

Glad to hear that is working for you.

Not a problem glad to help.

Once the files are transferred log into the Google Drive account and verify that they are there.

Check to see if you can download them form there onto the computer this way you have a second backup of them.

Sorry for the wait! I have backed up all my photos that I want to save and I'm thinking of doing a factory reset on the phone. Will that help?
Or how should I proceed now that have everything secured?

Other things that you may want to check and make sure that you have backed up and information from prior to doing a factory reset. There is a possibility that it would help.

Contacts
Any information form Text Messages
If used calendar information

PC wise would also look at removing software and references in the Device Manager.
While in Device Manager select view and then Show Hidden Devices.

This way there should be no conflicts with any software or old configurations.

I removed stuff and saved all my phone numbers etc and did a factory reset... but it didn't work. I really don't know what to do now.
