The connection between the wifi/Bluetooth card on my laptop and its mPCI-e slot is unreliable. After a few weeks or months, it starts to become erratic, causing frequent crashes, until it fails altogether and disappears entirely from Device Manager. I have also confirmed that it fails in Linux as well as Windows. So it's definitely a hardware issue. I find that opening up the laptop and re-seating the card carefully gets it working again for another few weeks or months, but then it starts to fail again. So I need a better solution.

My question, then, is whether the problem is likely to be with the card itself (which can be easily replaced) , or with the mPCI-e socket. And if it is the socket, is that something I can fix or not?

I would have thought it would go erratic after hours or days, not weeks or even months.
do you regularly turn the laptop off, say over night, or is it constantly on?
