Hi, so i had this problem for a year right now if i believe correctly. i don't remember that much, but after i had some problem with my windows 10 installation on my SSD i installed it on my HDD and for some reason, my SSD stopped to work. it doesn't show up on my device manager window and neither on my computer management window, not in my BIOS too. i tried to fix it now and then but to no success. however, i noticed that when i unplugged it from my SATA and plugged it back it showed up on my BIOS and sometimes on my computer management window too, but after a restart, it just disappears again, which makes no sense to me.
i ask if someone with knowledge on SSD knows what the issue is, and can tell if my SSD is just dead or something of that sort.

Welcome to PCHF eliran,

It could be a problem with the SATA cable or SATA port on MB,

Have you tried swapping the SATA cable from the HDD with the one on the SSD, for this test you leave the HDDs SATA cable connected to the present SATA port on the MB and only swap the end that is connected to the HDD itself.

HI, so i tried your advice and the SATA cable and the SATA port, both of the SSD and HDD, are fine. i believe this the issue is on the SSD but i am not sure. do you have another advice on the issue?, thanks
 
It does look like the SSD has an issue then I`m afraid :(

Can you do the following for us when the SSD is next detected by the BIOS and Windows;

Download and run CrystalDisk info standard edition from here

Run the program, grab any screenshots and attach to your next reply for us.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

Do the above so that SSD shows in the BIOS and then do the below to get an expanded screenshot of Disk Manager for us if you will.

Access Disk Management via Run.

Press the Windows+R keys to open Run, type diskmgmt.msc in the empty box then press OK.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Windows most likely cannot see the SSD because it is running out of free storage space on the C: drive.

For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available as free storage space at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive, this also to avoid data corruption.

Please note that storage devices can physically fail if the amount of free storage space is allowed to drop below the required 10 or 20/25% minimum.
 
i think there is a mistake, the 930 gb drive is my HDD, my SDD doesn't show up on the window.
 
There was no mistake, not saying that it is 100% the cause of the SSD disappearing in the BIOS but likewise it could 100% be the cause of the SSD disappearing in Windows, your mechanical HDD C: drive has only 2% of free storage space available and if you don`t heed the words post in my reply #8 then you will soon have no working computer at all.

Uninstall as many unused programs, games, videos and music files as you can and get yourself a means of backing up to such as an external USB HDD, post back when you have between 20 and 25% free storage on the C: drive/partition and we can go from there.
 
Did you restart the computer after you had freed up the space.

Now that you have sorted the amount of storage space can you try running Crystal Disk info and uploading any screenshots for us, if the SSD does not show there then it is toast I`m afraid.
 
Have to agree with you I`m afraid :(

Have you got anyone that you can ask if they will try it in their system, the result will most likely be the same but it would give you some peace of mind knowing for 100% certain that it had expired.
