A no-go on the lower PCIE slot, it still causes the flicker and the Warning Q-LED to turn on. The in-board DP Out of the MB does not function without ripping the GPU completely, should I do this?
 
Perhaps I should have been more clear in my questioning, I should have asked whether it was possible to do by simply unplugging the 6 pin and 4 pin connectors from the GPU to the PSU, and plugging a single monitor to the on-board DP.

I do have some more info for you, upon unplugging and removing the GPU from the system separately (I tried both with the same result) the flashing/flickering stopped, as did the notifications about G-Sync being available. The white warning LED on my motherboard still turns on if the monitor is not one when the system starts up, this is irregardless of whether or not there is a card plugged in or not.

Not sure what there is to update our end, based on the information provided by Pyro + the outcome of the test results the GPU needs to be tested by a local tech and/or replaced accordingly.
 
Phil,

Do you have any prior experience with EVGA's customer support and returns team? I'm a little apprehensive to send it in to them due to their service standards/policies.

Never had to return anything to them tbh.

Before sending the GPU to EVGA I would ask a local tech what they would charge for testing it.
 
best free test would be to either put your GPU into another rig or get your hands on a known good GPU from another rig and put that in yours. :)
 
I've tested with a 'good' GPU before, a Dell built GTX 1070, no issues.

While I'm not familiar with any shops near me, I'll have to do some poking around to find out for sure since I've never heard of that service before.
 
I think this can be concluded since there's really no good answer with my questionable gpu, if I ever find something else out I'll try to keep posted.
