Hello everyone!

I bought a ryzen 5 2600x for my gaming pc and I will be pairing it wil a 5700xt red devil, to play games like Far Cry 5, RDR2, Witcher 3, and heavily modded Skyrim in 1440p 144hz. The 2600x costed 125 euros and the 3600 costs 200 euros. Did I do the right choice? It seems like there is a big price difference between the 2600x and the 3600. Is it worth spending more money and getting the 3600?

Welcome to PCHF Manuel_KLG.

To me the only difference appears to be how much power each CPU uses and the yearly running costs, other than that you are only looking at one being a newer version of the Ryzen 5 series of CPU, see benchmarks here

Just a thought, is your MB compatible with both versions of the CPU, not all boards are.

I will be using a B450 tomahawk max, since I can't find B450 tomahawk (non max version) anywhere in Greece.
 
Just checked for compatibility and got the following warning when pairing that MB with a Ryzen 5 3600 processor but got the all clear with the 2600X.

Warning!Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

Well I was planning on buying the B450 tomahawk max because I thought it supports 3rd gen ryzen cpus. Anyway tho I don't think I'm gonna buy the 3600. I will stick to the 2600x since the difference between them isn't that big. Do you think that a 5700xt paired with a 2600x and 16gb ddr4 3600mhz will do good at 1440p gaming?

The board is compatible with Matisse CPUs and the warning is just letting you know that because the board is 2nd and 3rg gen CPU compatible there is a chance that you could get a board that needs the BIOS upgrading before it will work with 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs, read the Newegg reviews here and you will see that there are a some on the first page saying that the board worked out of the box with a 3rd gen Ryzen CPU.

Do you have a link to from where you will be getting any CPU and MB, with a 5700xt and 16GB of RAM I would be looking at something along the lines of a Ryzen 7 2700X, priced mid way between the 2600X and the 3600, see benchmark info here

The cpu came today but they sent me the wrong one. They sent me a 2600 instead of the 2600x, so I asked for my money back. So, for now I'm just waiting for deals on the 3600 or I will just stick to the 2600x.

Now I'm looking for a monitor to buy. I had found the Samsung CJG50 which is a 27'' curved, 1440p, 144hz and 4ms response time at only 270$, but it comes without g-sync or freesync. I guess that's what keeps its price so low. Basically I'm a little bit worried that I will have screen-tearing problems and as I've seen from reviews, 3 out of 5 models come with burnt pixels. For assistance with anything not related to your initial ryzen 5 2600x or 3600 question please start a new thread, going off topic is not in keeping with forum etiquette and therefore not appropriate, one topic = one thread, thank you for understanding.
 
I did that and you told me that only one thread was allowed per time because it wastes your time and creates confusion, so you closed it.
And that thread was completely different than this one and I asked different questions.
 
You are now asking for assistance with picking a screen which has 100% nothing to do with your thread title ryzen 5 2600x or 3600, not being pedantic but there are forum guidelines for a very good reason, threads would end up all over the place and all sorts of people chiming in with heavens knows what sort of comments if there were no such rules in place, entirely up to yourself how you proceed but rest assured that we act in members best interests at all times and that is why we all must stick to what is best practice.

'', it clearly seemed like you wanted me to write any questions in this thread. If you say otherwise then why did you close it, considering it had nothing to do with this thread? I clearly needed help on something entirely different than just a choice between two cpus. Anyways, you can close this thread. Don't have anything else to ask about the cpus. Thank you.
 
This is how things are intended to and do work well when adhered to;

You ask a specific question and once it has been answered to your satisfaction you let us know and your thread is then marked as having been answered, had you done this in your initial thread and then started a new thread regarding your parts list question everything would have been fine, I like our PCHF colleagues run a business and charge for fixing and building computers but give our help for free here, having to chase unanswered/abandoned threads deprives those in the most need of our help and that is why there is the one thread per question procedure, same goes on any reputable forum and on some your thread will just be closed with no explanation.
