Probably another tpm2 issue

Hi

Inherited son’s gaming pc about a year ago. It’s running Win 10, and we only use it as a pc. Ideally like to upgrade to Win 11.

PC Health checker said we were lacking the tpm2 chip.(Initially tried the process to go into power settings/BIOS to enable but couldn’t find it etc)

So, guess I’m in realm of finding out if Mb has tpm capacity and then acquiring right module/pin set up etc. The Mb is ASUS TUF H310M-PLUS. Try as I may, I can’t find this model on ASUS support. This always happens to me. PC probably only about seven years old, yet now obsolete it seems.

Problem is I can’t generate a ticket without identifying this with ASUS.

Any wisdom would be much appreciated. (Particularly if it’s known this Mb is a no hoper for Win 11)

It’s confusing as System Properties shows TUF H310M-PLUS GAMING, but version X.0x. I can’t see the last bit on the ASUS site. I can also see they’ve rolled out updates for various boards to address this.

Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

instead of using System Properties, look on the actual motherboard itself.
it will show the make/model stenciled on the main board, usually in big white letters.

which may mean it's version 1, or it's written in some obscure part of the board.

that means that the BIOS new firmware file, usually a .BIN file, has to be saved in the top, or parent, folder of the USB stick.
or in other words, NOT in any subfolder, just directly available in the 'root' (top) directory.

Cheers. Should have explained I knew what root. (Playing around with Xbox 360 games for kids back in the day) What I alluding to was the process to get the bin file from usb to pc? Do I just double click it from usb? I guess this also has to be done prior to Win 11 upgrade?

a BIOS upgrade can happen anytime, but I would be doing it prior to Win11 update myself.

most BIOS upgrade processes can read straight off the USB stick.
in BIOS, when you find the firmware upgrade section, they usually have an option asking for where the .BIN file resides, but there are a few ways to skin this particular cat.
some motherboards offer a QFlash program you just run from Windows and it'll update for you.

Thanks again. I think I misread the advice in post 10. I thought that was a link to specific BIOS download for Win 11, whereas it’s just BIOS for Mb. I’m not sure how my existing BIOS can support Win 11 “by default”, when PC Health Check generated the message about missing tmp2 etc?

Before using the ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 utility, rename the BIOS file in the removable device into TH310MP2 .CAP.

Thanks. Having loads of issues with Win 10, painfully slow on start up , crashes all the time. If you don’t use it for a few weeks, takes ages to start up.

Ever Since Windows 8 it has included Windows Defender which is an all-in-one anti-virus and firewall that uses less memory that most add ons.


Would also suggest getting more RAM.

RAM 8.00GB Single-Channel DDR4 @ 1197MHz (16-16-16-39)

You need to get a matching stick of RAM so that you get dual channel single channel RAM bottlenecks both the CPU and GPU, note the way that nearly all of your RAM has been used up.

You most likely cannot see it because it looks to be obscured in your pic ? see edited version of your pic below;

The BIOS has to be upgraded or you will not be able to install Windows 11, it is a prerequisite.
