Solved PLEASE HELP MY AUDIO IS MESSING UP

The options are main, advance, security and Boot and neither of them have the the necessary info, on the main tab it has sub sections like cpu speed and memory speed but won’t let me go down to them it’s greyed out

Sorry but not all BIOS is the same so you will need to look around, it may not even give you any readings but Dell normally do.

It would help if you were able to take a picture of what you are seeing and upload it for us.

Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to get into the UEFI BIOS, did you use a wired keyboard?

I’ll try and take a picture via my phone, and through the settings on my pc i navigated and found a start up setting that says record and advanced start up restart, this then took me troubleshoot then advanced options then UEFI firmware settings, sorry for the multiple responses I didn’t know how to edit

Am I missing it somewhere as I can`t seem to see where you mention whether or not you used a wired PS/2 type keyboard.

I didn’t use ps/2 keyboard, I went on settings and accessed it through there luckily

Not finding any way of obtaining the voltages so the BIOS on the Inspiron 5675 must be locked

Run a Dell diagnostics test to see if it picks anything up, see info here

Everything else was green and passed except that one in the photo

If all hardware (including the audio chip) passed the Dell diagnostic test I suspect that you have an electrical problem and without temporarily swapping components such as the PSU in and out you will find this nigh on impossible to track down.

Two other things that I can think of for you to try are starting the computer in safe mode only and trying your computer at another power outlet, the first option at an outside chance that it is driver related and the second to see if the issue is related to the present wall socket or any surge protector that you may use.

Please note that wireless devices can also interfere with the audio so make sure that nothing close by is causing this, a cordless telephone for example.

starting in safe mode didn't do much, I had pretty much everything restricted, the sound wasn't even on at all, it had a red x on it, and even the internet wouldn't connect.

But did you keep the computer on long enough to see if you still got what you describe as static coming through the speakers, if this is being caused by static build up or something amiss with the power flow you will still get the noise coming through the speakers/headphones even with the audio chip disabled.

There is no point in trying the computer connected to another power source until you have repeated the above test and for as long as it is normally taking for the static type noise to become audible.

and even the internet wouldn't connect.

That is normal unless you select the Safe Mode with Networking option and the reason why Safe Mode only was suggested was to disable the network device in case that is what is causing the static type noise, if you got no static type noise in Safe Mode only the next logical test is to try the Safe Mode with Networking option to see if the noise comes back.

What is not normal above is why Windows did not load its own generic audio driver for some reason

Oh when it was safe mode there was no static at all, I’ll double check again today, but I’m pretty sure there was no static at all and it perfectly silent like it was before this problem

No worries, no rush on our behalf so when you are ready, just trying to be thorough here before any sort of disconnecting and moving the computer around needs to be done, we could also do with looking at what audio drivers are installed to see if it sheds any light on why the Windows own generic audio drivers were not used when the computer was in Safe Mode only.

Not sure that it will help as I suspect that this is static/power related but your Realtek HDD driver is out of date, create a new system restore point, create a new folder on the desktop and call it Dell drivers, download and save to the new folder the HD audio driver from here go into Device Manager and uninstall the present Realtek HD audio driver that is shown below, restart the computer, install the new driver, test then post back with an update for us.
