Pc wont detect gpu error 45?

Hi ,
My pc froze up on me a couple weeks back and a blue screen apeared with "you need to turn of your pc"?
I was not able to do a restore so i ended up reinstalling windows compleatlry. After doing a driver update to the latest radeon adrenalin version and, also a bios update. I noticed my gpu was not being recognised in devise manager? I followed all the online advise how to fix the error 45 issue to no avail.

My pc consists of these component's....
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600g
MOBO: MSI B550a pro
GPU: RX6750xt trio
PSU: ADX 650w gold
1tb M.2 ssd gen 4
240mm liquid cooler

Since I tried all the usual trying the other pcie slot/uninstall & reinstall drivers/run scans to fix broken files ect.
I first bought a new graphics card to try and unfortunately the problem persisted.
I decided to take my pc to the shop to be fixed.
1 week later, the shop phones me and tells me my Gpu is fine it works on there test system and passed 3Dpassmark, Cool lol l.
We couldn't get the gpu to work on the top pcie 1 slot or the bottom one but, we did get a "BASIC DISPLAY CARD" to work on the bottom pcie 2 slot so, are conclusion is you need a new motherboard.

I tell them ok I will buy a new board and swop them out myself since I built my fist pc I can easily swop.oit a motherboard.

Motherboard turns up a few days later. A b550m ds3h. I hook everything up and I get the same error 45 gpu not detected in the pcie slots?

The only things left to swop out is the PSU/CPU and also a new full install of windows on a new ssd?

Any ideas guys I would love some feed back please 🙏

My first guess is the PSU, that one is low end by our documentation.



Let's get some more information:

Download and run the free version of speccy.

Once you have ran speccy, follow the instructions to upload a snapshot found here.


To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:
  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Thank you for replying and yes. I thought the same it's got to be the psu.
I had a voltage/watts meter plugged into my pc and, the system would pull up to 400w that is 250w short of the 650w from the psu but, if it is a rubbished psu then it's probrobly the psu.

I will post the information you suggested soon
 
Have any friends or relatives you could borrow a better one from? A test would be the easiest way for us to determine without blowing through more of your money.

I have not got a close friend that has a pc. I decided to order Deepcool 750w psu, it is better than the one I have and, once tested, I can eliminate the psu as being the problem?
Expensive way to go but, I would rather spend £100 on a New psu and not need it than spend £60 at a pc repair shop, Telling me I need to buy a new one.

Funny bit will be when, The psu turns out to not be the problem lol
That would only leave the cpu/ram/windows 11pro install got currupted some how?

Once home I will run a speccy scan
 
This is the list we use at the forum to determine what PSUs are worth getting.

General rules of thumb - 80+ Gold, 10 year warranty, and a name brand supplier (Seasonic, Corsair, EVGA). I personally prefer Seasonic units.

It's not all about watts, the power efficiency rating and name/warranty behind it are critical as well.

If you still have time to cancel your order, I would look into a unit with the specifications above if you're set on buying a new PSU first.


Finally - Don't forget that even if your current PSU is modular, you should swap the cables out, different manufacturers use different pinouts for components and you could damage something if the pinouts on your current PSU cables and future ones are not the same.

Update: the new psu did not change the error 45 lol
I'm basically building a whole new computer correct?
New motherboard
New psu
New graphics card and, now a new cpu.
The only things left then is RAM/WINDOWS/ NEW CASE
 
Still waiting on that Speccy. :)

Did you replace the parts with the same components or different ones?

It tells us about installed programs, update date, drivers, and system settings among other things. It can help us find things that you wouldn't think can cause issues.

I'm using my phone at the moment
I will get on that after I have had some ood and put the kids to bed lol.
To answer the question about hardware swopping, the MSI rx6750xt trio was exchanged for ASUS rx6750xt dual. Did not fix problem..
MSI b550a pro was exchanged for GIGABYTE b550m ds3h... Did not fix the problem..
ADX PSU exchanged for Deepcool 750 psu.... Did not fix the problem.

ok, so I have the speccy app and its open on my desktop
what do you want me to screenshot?
there is a lot of info on here very interesting I think??? lol
 
Did you ever reinstall windows and your drivers? Changing hardware without drivers is like changing your car but putting old/bad petrol in it.

Post #2 goes through posting a Speccy, please follow that. :)

I did dona reinstall of windows and I did do a reinstallnof drivers ?
I was having issues uploading the speccy but, did look through it thoroughly and could not see any problems thas was aware of ?

Used DDU to ininstall in (safe mode). Made my pc compleatly clean foe the reinstall of all upto date drivers the whole nine yards.

My bios does not recognise my card in the pcie slot 1/2

Device manager knows something is in the slot but gives the (error 45)

Gpu works on other pc.
gpu does not work on both motherboards the old or the new, same problem (error 45)
 
What issues are you having with speccy?

Did you install your chipset, storage, and video drivers in that order before allowing the computer to connect to the internet?

Confusing me about how to upload the screenshot ? I have never this before and getting a little lost ?

I'm not sure what to screenshot or how many to take ?

Oh **** !!! I have had my internet connected the whole time
I take it that can cause me problems like this ?

I can't remember what order drivers were installed in because I've been in a mental mess lol

It's best practice to disconnect from the internet otherwise Windows will attempt to automatically install drivers - These are usually generic and not the best for gaming PCs.

having trouble getting the mobo info to snapshot on speccy. keeps snapping just the first page ?
