Hey,
So I've got a new graphics card to replace my old one which was broken.
My new card is a Geforce GTX 1660, and my motherboard is an AMD 78LMT-USB3.
But whenever I connect my new graphics card to my PC the monitors cant display anything, with the message 'No HDMI signal from your device' appearing on my monitor.
I can load up my PC fine when the graphics card is disconnected, however. Being able to log on and mess about with the system and that.
I have uninstalled the previous drivers, messed about with the HDMI cable (turning the power off and on), as well as removing the CPU battery for a couple of minutes, unplugging the monitors and PC completely and plugging them back in, etc. but none of these have helped me load up my PC once the new graphics card is in.
I also cant download the drivers for my new graphics card when the card is disconnected either, as I don't have the necessary components to handle them

I was hoping to ask if anyone has any idea how I could solve this issue and get my graphics card working? I will likely take the PC to a shop in a couple of days and have them try and help, but if someone here has any ideas I can do myself it would be much appreciated (and it will save me the trip and a bit of money).

Any help is welcome,
Cheers, Muzza

Couple of questions for you;

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU.

Have you connected the 8 pin power dongle from the PSU to the GPU.

Have to ask, are you 100% certain that you are connecting the screen to the HDMI port on the GPU and not the MB, this a very common mistake btw.

the PSU is CiT ATV500W
The 8-pin dongle is connected to the GPU, and I have tried connecting the cable to both the GPU and MB HDMI ports to make sure, no change

A rathe poor quality PSU that should not be used with an add on GPU I`m afraid.

Is that a 6+2 pin PSU dongle that you used.

Do you get any on screen message at all, a " No Signal" message for example.

NB: In case not already aware, the video ports on the MB will not work when the GPU is in the board, they get disabled by default when an add on GPU is detected.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as we have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed,, thanks.

Did you use DDU to uninstall the original graphics card drivers? This is needed when swapping graphics cards?
Unfortunately this may be difficult if you cannot get any signal. Can you access safe mode?

Thanks,
I know that it is not recommended, however the minimum system requirement for the card is 450W supply or higher, so while the 500W may be challenged it shouldn't be completely unable to load up.
The dongle is 6+2 yes
My monitor will simply state that there is 'No HDMI signal from your device' and then go into standby mode
I have connected the HDMI to the GPU slot and there is no response either.
I have already installed DDU and have used it to uninstall the previous drivers. - When I go into Device Manager the only display adapter shown is the 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'
I can access safe mode ok, but not when the graphics card is inserted in my PC

Check the information sticker on the PSU and you will see that the PSU manufacturer even states that the PSU can only produce 432W (also questionable) you can work this out for yourself by multiplying the amount of amps on the +12V rail, the CIT says 36A, Xs 36A by 12V and you get 432V.

A "No Signal" message means that the screen is ok and that the problem is with the source of the video or the cable that is meant to carry the video signal.

Thanks,
The HDMI cable I think is fine, when the graphics card is disconnected the HDMI detects my device and I can log onto my account. The cable is also brand new as the monitor I am using is also not long out the packaging.

The power supply may be the issue, I will look into getting a better one and fitting it in. I would not want my PC to overheat and my components to decay so I will definitely get a stronger PSU anyway.

I will let you know when I get it and if it works. But I will still be open to any advice anyone has as I am only assuming the PSU is the issue. If you (or anyone else) has any other ideas I would love to hear them.
I will keep you posted, however, this may take a couple days.

Thanks again,
Muzza

Any update for us Muzza?

I am only assuming the PSU is the issue.

It is your GPU manufacturer that is telling you what PSU the GPU needs and we have only advised you of the present PSUs poor quality and too low an output to be able to support the GPU and other hardware.

Hello,
I have bought a new PSU with 650W which should be plenty.
The other parts of my PC were upgraded as well, the power supply (and motherboard) were the only parts from the original build, which was pre-built and likely just had enough wattage for what was already in it. I probably would have needed a new power supply regardless.
The PC is a bit awkward, however, as the fans are in an odd position so instead of risking electric shock and a headache from trying to fit in the new wires, I have handed the case into a shop with the new PSU and should receive it back in a few days with the new power supply fitted in.
Once I have it back I will repeat my previous steps of uninstalling the drivers etc. if the PC still does not work.
I will let you know what happens. Hopefully, the PC works once the new PSU is in, but if not I will return here.

Thanks again, Muzza

Thanks for the update (y)

650W sounds great but it means nothing if it is not a good quality brand and has an efficiency rating to match the needs of the build and fwiw any PC used for gaming should have a minimum of a Gold efficiency rated PSU that provides output equal to or above what the PCs hardware requires.

Will leave your thread marked as pending for a few days so you don't get asked for an update meanwhile.

You are welcome and good luck.

Hey,
So I have gotten my PC back with the new PSU plugged in and connected.
I have attempted uninstalling the drivers using DDU and in the control panel however, my PC still does not load up when my GPU is connected.
The PC still loads up fine when the GPU is disconnected, however.
I will continue to go through the suggested methods on the internet now with the new PSU installed, but if anyone has any ideas which may help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Muzza

Just quickly looked at the compatibility on 'buildmypc' and it says it should be fine.
I tried fitting my old GPU and the HDMI managed to detect the device, so it likely isn't an issue with the slot.
I also tried asking the Geforce support line and they recommended getting a replacement from Gigabyte as it is likely a faulty GPU.

The card should still be in warranty so I should be fine to get a replacement.
I'll let you know how it goes. Should take a couple of days.
Until then, Muzza

If the PC is not booting with the video card installed, that indicates a damaged card or a damaged PCIE slot. Make sure there are no bent or missiing pins in the PCIE slot.

Be aware that there are settings in the BIOS for the video.

Onboard VGA output connect should be set to Auto

Init Display First should be under Advanced setting and should be set to PCI Slot.

If you have tried to tweak the BIOS settings for proformance then you probably need to reset the BIOS to default before continuing.

Warrantying sounds like the right step to me, rule the GPU out completely and then go from there.

Sorry for the late response.
The GPU should be getting picked up tomorrow and I'll order a replacement once it's done.

As for the BIOS recommendations, the BIOS was already set to default but I defaulted it again anyway and checked.
The Init Display First was already set to PCI Slot.
Couldn't find the 'Onboard VGA output connect' though, but I imagine it would be set to 'auto' by default.

The GPU is scheduled to be picked up tomorrow so I probably won't bother trying with this GPU anymore, will let you guys know when I get a replacement and if the same issue persists.

Thanks again for helping, Muzza
