Hello Gang, Nice to meet you all! Here is my story...I am currently trying to get my old Dell Dimension E521 up and running again and I am having some trouble...First off, I just replaced my power source completely from the stock it came with to a brand new one I purchased on Ebay ( It's a KDM) It started up just fine, no troubles there..Now I need to connect to the internet, and since it has been so long (2013 was the last time I fired Her up) I could use some advice on modems and routers I would need to connect to my cable setup (i currently have Optimum Altice - wireless router) If someone could be as specific as possible I would truly appreciate it, It's been a long time, and i'm sure tech has changed. Thanks in advance!

can you give a picture or describe the ports available on your modem/router?
for those of us not in your country, I've never heard of Optimum Altice.

but if it has an Ethernet port, that's what I'd be connecting the PC up with.
if the modem has wireless capability, and the PC does too, you could use that.

it should be that simple - either wirelessly connect the two using the wifi password or get an ethertnet cable and hardwire them together.

according to the Dell spec sheet, it only comes with an ethernet port built-in, but maybe someone has added a USB add-on wireless adapter.

what is the operating system?

go into Control Panel, Device Manager, expand Network Adapters and look for anything with the word wireless in it.
