Hi Michael, Welcome to PCHF!
Have you gone into the computers BIOS to see if the hard drive is recognized? Have you tried opening up the computer and reseating the SATA and power cables for the hard drive and then seeing if the computer boots into Windows?
If that doesn't help then the hard drive may have failed on you and you will most likely have to get it replaced. Have you backed up the data that is stored on that hard drive?
Nah man it didn't work and were u talking about this picSelect your boot option to the HDD as 1 and see if that helps. Per your 1st image..
What should I do ? Buy a new drive ? And what is the mbr/boot sector ? How do I fixHi Michael,
The hex value 7B refers to INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE, hence the Drive Not Found error. That either means the drive itself is bad or the MBR/boot sector is corrupted.
No i don't know what version of windows but I will buy the latest and I don't know how to install them.Do you have any data that you need from the hard drive? If not then I would buy this hard drive as a replacement, WD Black 1TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD1003FZEX.
What version of Windows was installed in that machine? If you replace the hard drive then you will need to reinstall Windows and install all of the updates and drivers for the hardware devices in the computer. Do you know how to do this?
Sure...here is what those color marks mean... http://blog.usro.net/wd-hdd-colors-difference/Could I buy this one instead ?
Thanks. So if i replace this and get windows it could potentially work ?Sure...here is what those color marks mean... http://blog.usro.net/wd-hdd-colors-difference/
It should...yesThanks. So if i replace this and get windows it could potentially work ?
Go to the Dell site and input your service tag and find out which will be on the back of the Desktop. Six to Eight alpha numeric. No i don't know what version of windows but I will buy the latest and I don't know how to install them.
Not unless Dell has drivers for that version of windows. Dell has hardware specifically made for their systems and software made to run that hardware. So if i replace this and get windows it could potentially work ?
What should I do ? Is the pc dead ? Should I just buy a new one? Sorry for all these questions.Hold off on buying a 1TB hard drive!
The BIOS on the computer says 2003 - 2006. I'm not sure how old the computer is but if it is 10 years old, it may not be able to recognize a 1TB drive because of the motherboard limitations.
What size hard drive is in it?
e520, not tested for Windows 10, meaning Dell has no drivers

There is also no manual for it and the site says manuals not available for products older than 7 years.
This came with a 160GB hard drive.
e521 not tested for Windows 10, meaning Dell has no drivers (last revised in 2007)

this came with a 320GB hard drive.
Ya the machine was in storage for a while. I wouldn't know which cables to mess with though. To see if the machine is really dead or not, you can try and install windows 7 on it. Here are instructions for clean installing windows 7.
Is there a sticker on the machine similar to this?
Are there any files on the machine you wish to retrieve.
Was the machine in storage, reason I ask is that the cables inside the case may have been knocked loose... etc.
