• Hello everyone We want to personally apologize to everyone for the downtime that we've experienced. We are working to get everything back up as quickly as possible. Due to the issues we've had, your password will need to be reset. Please click the button that says "Forgot Your Password" and change it. We are working to have things back to normal. Emails are fixed and should now send properly. Thank you all for your patience. Thanks, PCHF Management

I believe Bastet is right. I tried running chkdsk without admin permission and it gives a different error. Plus after doing some more research, it looks like the write protected error message may imply that the drive has been corrupted if you have not modified it any way recently.
Nothing has changed in the last few weeks, all operations/updates as per usual, as said to Bastet will get back after next few days.Thank you all for your help will pick it up asap REgards Derek

You would have to download Macrium on another PC so yes.
If you could access troubleshoot menu by force restarting the pc 3 times then you could run chkdsk but I doubt this will be possible.

I think I am gettig out of my depth as some of the instructihave are going right over my head...sorry! I did once carry out repeated restarts and eventually get to the correct page to restore, it then quoted an old outlook.com link to me requesting pass word which I could not find or remember, will keep on trying. At the first start each morning it always starts in repair mode but does not allow me to restore??
.In the meantime attempted to carry out Denmon instructions .Attached photos but have no idea if they are correct. Thanks for all help

Disk read error does point towards a drive failure. I would cease using the PC until you’ve installed Macrium on another PC & created their boot media to recover the OS, files & apps. Any further use of the PC may damage the drive to the point the files cannot be recovered.

Will do as advised .Get back to you both asap

I have downloaded Reflect 8 free. There were other programmes also free to downoad, have I downloaded correct one?If so were do I go from here ?Thank you

Hi You do appreciate that there is no way that I can access any sections of my desktop,so any advice has to be carried out by avery small laptop with a very small ram etc......is that the way you would have me proceed. Merry Christmas and a happy new year will pick this up if you dont mind after the neaxt few days
I now have macrium reflect 8 on my pc?what do I do next????

PC ,started normally this morning accepting start password, tried to get on settings page to restore but it has froze!!!!
What do i do now? A bit apprehensive regarding manual restart?????????

Hi Guys You wont believe this but I had a late Christmas present yesterday afternoon.
As I was attempting to get more photos for you of the various states of the screen.

There was a sudden flash on the screen, then it all went black followed by a screen which read. "

MICROSOFT:This PC requires resetting, LEAVE it to us ,would you prefer Cloud reset or reset from your own PC. (I thought attempting to use my PC was pushing it so opted for CLOUD)..after my choice, the screen then read "SIT BACK LEAVE IT TO US BE PATIENT IT WLL TAKE TIME: Keeping all my old data and favourites it took four hours, but I have now ended up with a far superior WIN 10 than I had, plus its faster, fully up to date, with all the old rubbish removed. Its like having a new PC again. I might add I did nothing to obtain tht original on screen message, it just happened.(My PC angel must be looing over my shoulder)
So I thank you both Bastet and DENMON for your help and patience, if it wasn't for folks like yourself a great many people would be pulling their hair out! So thanks again Happy and healthy new year to you both.
This message by the way is being typed on my "new" desk top!!!!
